BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
***UPDATE*** ★ The protector of Gotham City is once again flying high atop the box office charts, as “The Batman” has scored a spectacular $128.5 million opening weekend, becoming only the second film since the pandemic began to open to over $100 million. The Matt Reeves-directed blockbuster is set to be the biggest theatrical hit for Warner Bros. since the DC film featuring Batman’s nemesis “Joker” was in theaters in fall 2019.

★ Joy Behar is the latest hot topic: The fiery redhead hit the floor hard on Thursday’s episode of “The View.” She was walking out onstage at the start of the live show when she took a tumble just before reaching her seat. Cameras captured Behar face-planting on the stage. Co-hosts Sara Haines and legal eagle Sunny Hostin were heard gasping before rushing to her assistance. The 79-year-old didn’t suffer serious injury, and was able to continue on with the show, saying once she finally sat down at the table: “Twenty-five years, that has never happened — who do I sue?!”
-NYPost
★ Michael Cera has become a dad – but we might never have heard about it if not for Amy Schumer. The baby news was accidentally revealed on Friday when “Life & Beth” co-stars Cera and Schumer conducted a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight. She spoke about passing down lessons to her 2-year-old son Gene, and said: “Michael has a baby, too. Is that public knowledge?…I just outed him, I just outed his baby.” Cera did not reveal additional details about his child, including the mother’s identity.

★ As the final episodes of the miniseries based on her marriage to Tommy Lee, “Pam & Tommy”, air this month, Pamela Anderson is taking control of how her story is told — thanks to an upcoming documentary on Netflix. She announced the project on social media by posting a picture of a note — handwritten on Netflix letterhead and sealed with a lipstick kiss, saying: “My life/ A thousand imperfections/ A million misperceptions/ Wicked, wild and lost/ Nothing to live up to /I can only surprise you /Not a victim, but a survivor /And alive to tell the real story.” While the doc has been in the works for a few years, the announcement is well-timed as the Hulu series draws to a close. No release date yet.

★ Pete Davidson could be taking a journey to the final frontier. People reports the “Saturday Night Live” star is in talks to visit space with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company. There are only a handful of celebs who have flown with the spaceflight company. “Star Trek” legend William Shatner made the journey in October, and “Good Morning America” anchor and former NFL star Michael Strahan flew in December.

• Weezer — Rivers Cuomo has launched his own version of ‘Wordle’. ‘Weezle,’ is similar to the original game, except the answer is always a word featured within a Weezer song. It can be played on the Weezer website. Last month, he launched his own version of Spotify, called ‘Weezify’, featuring only Weezer demos.
• Judas Priest – resumed their “50 Heavy Metal Years” tour Friday night, playing their first show since guitarist Richie Faulkner suffered an aortic aneurysm while on stage in September, leading to emergency surgery. The concert in Peoria IL also featured producer/guitarist Andy Sneap, who’d been briefly dropped from the lineup until fan backlash persuaded the band to reinstate him.
• Ozzy Osbourne – He and wife, Sharon, are moving from Los Angeles back to the U.K. He told a newspaper: “We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much.” He reportedly plans to spend most of his time at Welders House, a property he owns in South East England.

• Ashley Monroe – The Pistol Annies singer has revealed her “incurable” blood cancer is gone. In Dec., she finished chemotherapy, and underwent scans on Feb. 24 to determine if the treatments worked. To her amazement, doctors told her it is gone without a trace. She thanked fans for their prayers in an Instagram post. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/369rset4
SHOOTING THE BULL
THE LATEST WORD ON WORDLE:
Yes, it’s true. Many players feel that since The New York Times bought Wordle in late January, the viral word game has become more difficult. But so difficult that it causes you to cheat? Word games reference tool “WordfinderX” did a study using Google Trends data to show how many people are searching online for the answer to the daily Wordle. It found Google searches for “today’s Wordle” have increased by 196% since The New York Times bought the game. The two most difficult words — and most popular days for cheating — appear to be Feb. 15’s “AROMA,” and Feb. 19’s “SWILL.” WordfinderX says that cheaters most commonly play in the morning, most often searching for the answer between 7 and 8 a.m. But keep in mind: yes, cheating has become more prevalent since the New York Times takeover, but that also may be due to the game’s rising popularity — since more people are playing, more are likely to cheat.
(Ah! Like golf!)
(Not me! I only cheat when there’s a payoff for me. Like taxes, for instance. Doh!)
(I’m seeing others score 2/6 on Wordle every morning, and I’m just trying to remember my email password!)

BAT BILLS:
With Robert Pattison’s “The Batman” making some serious bank at the box office over the weekend, it has once again raised the question (at least among comic book nerds): “Exactly how much money does that guy have anyway?” And by “that guy”, we mean Batman. One reporter ran the numbers, and here’s what he came up with:
• Wayne Enterprises: ‘Bruce Wayne’ is the owner of Wayne Enterprises, which means he’s a multi-billionaire…it’s a good thing, too. He has a lot of expensive clothes.
• Wayne Manor: EW says Batman’s home is worth $137 million, and has a maintenance cost of $1.6 million per year.
• Batmobile: It appears he drives a modified 1960s Camaro in the new movie. That can sell for well over $100,000, and factoring in the cost of superhero modifications, you’d be looking at millions. (Including a super-powerful “Bat-tery”!).
• Batsuit: The best guess is that a real life Batsuit, including its famous cowl were tech like night-vision and radio communication is located, could set you back over $1 million. (Wow! All that – and you still haven’t paid Alfred!)

STEPS AND STRENGTH:
⇒ Conventional wisdom says a reasonable amount of exercise to shoot for is to take 10,000 steps per day. But for most of us, that’s a goal that’s difficult to maintain. Well, here’s some good news: By analyzing data on tens of thousands of people across 4 continents compiled between 15 existing studies, a team of researchers has now landed on a more comfortable figure: the optimal number is closer to 6,000 steps per day, depending on your age. The University of Massachusetts researchers concluded that for adults aged 60 and older, the reduced risk of early death tops out at around 6,000 to 8,000 steps a day. More steps may have other health benefits, but a reduced chance of death isn’t one. The study found that those who are younger could do well to walk a little more, but there isn’t evidence that they’d live longer by walking more than 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. (Especially in MY neighborhood!)
⇒ Spending just 30-60 minutes a week on muscle strengthening exercises could be enough to significantly reduce your risk of dying — even with no extra cardio like running or cycling. Researchers in Japan analyzed 25 years’ worth of studies done on 25,000 people, and concluded: “Muscle strengthening activities were inversely associated with the risk of all-cause mortality and major non-communicable diseases including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and lung cancer.” The World Health Organization currently recommends that adults carry out muscle strengthening exercises at least 2 days a week, including squats, push ups, lifting weights, or even some serious gardening involving digging and shoveling. (I thought of doing lunges . . . but that’s a pretty big step…)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ While planning a recent trip to London from France, Eva Fitzner and Jessica Di Cosmo didn’t realize that “have a double proposal on an ice rink” was part of the itinerary. After 3 years together, Fitzner thought it was time to pop the question. What she didn’t know was that Di Cosmo had the same idea, and also brought along an engagement ring. Once they were at the ice rink, Fitzner got down on one knee and proposed, and immediately after Di Cosmo said “yes,” the tables turned, and Di Cosmo pulled out a ring and proposed to Fitzner. Fitzner said she thought it was “a joke” at first, because it was “the kind of thing you only see in Christmas movies.” She accepted the proposal, to the cheers of nearby skaters. (Did they “fall” for each other?) VID LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yckjmstf
➢ Students at West Side Elementary School in Healdsburg, CA have recorded a series of “pep talks” aimed at anyone who needs a little encouragement these days. The “Peptoc Hotline,” public art project was concocted by local artist Jessica Martin, who is also the school’s art teacher. She says she was moved by the “incredible collection of advice and encouragement” the children offered. In less than a week, the project has gone viral, receiving up to 5,000 calls a day to the hotline set up to record the children’s words of wisdom. The advice is refreshingly kid-like: “If you are sad, take 3 deep breaths”. “Get some ice cream.” “Think of fun things.” “Punch a pillow and cry.” “It’s OK to be different.”

NOT JUST COFFEE FILTERS:
You can buy hundreds of coffee filters for just about nothing at the dollar store, and they’re handy for a lot more things than just brewing coffee. Give these a try . . .
➠ Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave.
➠ Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome…coffee filters are lint-free so they’ll leave them sparkling.
➠ Separate your good dishes with a coffee filter to protect them when moving or storing them.
➠ If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.
➠ Hold tacos, etc. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.
➠ Put a few on a plate and put your bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc. on them, to soak up the grease.
➠ Line a plant pot with one to prevent soil from leaking out through the drainage holes.
➠ No need for expensive strips to wax eyebrows — Use strips of coffee filters! The also make great “razor nick fixers.”
➠ Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or into a closet to absorb or prevent odors.
➠ For the kids: Poke a hole in a coffee filter to prevent a Popsicle or ice cream cone from dripping on little hands.

DID YOU KNOW?
Ukrainian authorities have let it be known to citizens that they don’t need to declare captured Russian tanks or any equipment they pick up as personal income. A statement from the Ukrainian National Agency on Corruption Prevention says: “Have you captured a Russian tank or armored personnel carrier and are worried about how to declare it? Keep calm and continue to defend the Motherland!” It says there is no need to declare captured Russian tanks and other equipment as taxable income, because the country does not value them at more than 248,100 Ukrainian hryvnia, or about US $8,300.
