BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Will he or won’t he? We know American Idol is coming back for the Fall TV season, but will Ryan Seacrest return to host? According those who know, Seacrest is considered likely to return despite having taken a full-time gig in New York as Kelly Ripa’s co-host on Live! But will he get the $15 million he made on Fox? Likely not. High talent costs led to the show’s initial demise. Pricey past judges Simon Cowell and Jennifer Lopez are said to be out. Agencies are pitching fresh judge talent, with sources saying that ABC is hopeful it can reveal a shiny new roster as soon as its May 16 presentation to ad buyers.
(I’m still holding out hope for the return of Kara DioGuardi….I hear she may be free!)

★ Shaquille O’Neal has revealed the he is seriously considering running for the office of sheriff in 2020 to mend the broken relationship between police and the black community. He says it isn’t about politics as much as something that he has always wanted to do. He didn’t specify where he would run, but Shaq holds residency in both Florida and Georgia. Experience? O’Neal is already an honorary deputy in Georgia and has been a reserve police officer in L.A., Florida and Arizona.

★ Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s heart was in terrible condition for days before his death — so bad, in fact, doctors feared he’d eventually need a heart transplant. Boykin’s ex-wife, Shannon Turley, says that he was hospitalized for several days prior to his death. The reality television personality died of a suspected heart attack at 45. He starred in the hit MTV show ‘Rob And Big’ for three seasons ending in 2008. Before he was a TV star, Boykin served in the U.S. Navy. He’s survived by his 9-year-old daughter Isis.

★ Lena Dunham has opened up about her health scare at last week’s Met Gala, during which she was rushed to the hospital. Dunham has been open about her health issues in the past and wrote: “I wore a massive gingham gown like some endometriosis-battling Scarlett O’Hara. I went straight from a women’s room full of supermodels and wearable art to the hospital. I was there for four days.” She also called the American Health Care Act “unjust and willfully savage.”

★ ‘Games of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage is set to play Herve Villechaize in an upcoming movie about the Fantasy Island star. HBO has green-lighted a movie about the late actor who played Tattoo in the 80s show. “My Dinner with Herve” will also feature Jamie Dornan, who will play a journalist who comes into the actor’s life. Villechaize’s shout of “The plane, the plane!” greeted arriving guests in the 1977-83 TV series “Fantasy Island.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Calvin Harris – the EDM superstar will release his fifth album next month. ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1′ , his first full-length since 2014’s ‘Motion’ drops June 30. The album’s extensive roster of guests include Katy Perry, Future, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Big Sean, Travis Scott and Khalid.
• U2 – They’ve clearly found what they’re looking for in Vancouver. U2 has drawn plenty of local attention with a return to the city for the launch of the 30th anniversary “Joshua Tree” tour tonight. It’s the second time they’ve picked Vancouver as the starting mark for a tour — it was almost exactly two years ago that they kicked off support for the album “Songs of Innocence” in the B.C. city. Bono says: “We always had a thing with Canada in general, but Vancouver has been very, very welcoming of us at a time when we we’re very fragile.”
• Harry Styles – channels the Beatles with new song ‘Carolina’. A few days after the album drops on May 12, Apple Music will release a documentary titled ‘Harry Styles: Behind the Album’. The film includes interviews with Styles himself and footage from his time working on the collection in Jamaica and at Abbey Road.
• Niall Horan – has been confirmed to appear on the 2017 iHeart Radio Much Music Video Awards, alongside Arkells, KJ Apa, Lauren Cohan, Lilly Singh, Nikki Bella, and Post Malone. The awards show is June 18.
• Imagine Dragons – had two big announcements this week. They revealed that they will be releasing their new studio album in June and will launch a North American tour in September. The new album will be titled “Evolve” and is set to hit stores on June 23rd.
• Tupac – an authorized documentary is set to be released next month. “All Eyez on Me” was directed by Steve McQueen of ‘12 Years a Slave’ fame.
• Stone Temple Pilots – may have found their new lead singer, replacing the late Scott Weiland and interim frontman Chester Bennington (Linkin Park). As for who has taken Weiland’s place, All we know is “STP will reveal it in their own time,” according to band friend and the former guitarist of Filter, Geno Lenardo.
• Brett Eldredge – will release a self-titled disc on Aug. 4. The album will feature his latest single “Somethin’ I’m Good At.”
• Sturgill Simpson – is the leading nominee for the 2017 Americana Honors & Awards with 3. Simpson was nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth” and Song of the Year for “All Around You.”

More than two-thirds said cuts heal better without a bandage, even though covering a wound keeps out harmful bacteria. Another 44% believed ice baths could reduce high fevers, when they actually pose a dangerous hypothermia risk. Most worryingly, nearly a quarter didn’t know infants should sleep on their backs. But don’t blame your parents and tell them that it is a wonder you were able to survive childhood. The study’s lead author says that childcare advice has changed over the years as new information has become available, and Grandma and Grandpa may still be working with the advice that they got from their parents and grandparents a number of generations ago.
