BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Morgan Freeman is speaking out again amid reports of his allegedly inappropriate sexual behavior towards women. In a statement, he said, “I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday’s media reports. All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.” Freeman apologized on Thursday after he was accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate comments and behavior by eight different women.

★ Daniel Craig and director Danny Boyle have been confirmed for the next James Bond film, which will be released in October 2019. Universal Pictures have won the international distribution rights to the 25th Bond installment, which will feature Craig for a fifth time. Shooting starts in December.

★ Alicia Silverstone has officially pulled the trigger on ending her marriage to Chris Jarecki. The two first started dating in 1997 and married in 2005. When they split in February, they released a statement saying that “They still deeply love and respect each other and remain very close friends but have mutually decided to separate after being together for 20 years”. They have one son, born in 2011.

★ Woody Harrelson has confirmed he will be in ”a fraction” of the upcoming ‘Venom’ movie, but won’t reveal which character he will play. Harrelson says he won’t reveal his role yet because he isn’t even sure he should be confirming his appearance in the movie at all.  When pressed, he said, ”I thought it was under wraps that I’m even in the movie.”

★ ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds has opened up about his personal struggles with depression and anxiety. In an interview with the website ‘Mr. Porter’, Reynolds said that he tends to “get pretty depressed and I have some issues with anxiety and things like that.” Reynolds uses working out to help him feel better, saying, “Otherwise, I start to get a little bummed…exercise is a means of expelling those demons.” Despite his struggles, Reynolds has a positive outlook, saying: “I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but anxiety is also a great fuel.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga – surprised guests at the Rose Bar in New York on Thursday by performing an impromptu show. A witness says she arrived was enjoying drinks with friends, before joining a jazz band for seven or eight songs. She has pulled the same stunt at the same bar a few times in the past.
• The Weeknd – and his creative director La Mar Taylor are opening a new creative base for artists in Toronto. He Instagrammed some pics of Taylor on a construction site, explaining the centre will serve as a “creative and digital incubator” for emerging local artists, providing them with the “tools, contacts, funds and freedom to activate their own talents and translate them into sustainable skills”.
• Wu-Tang Clan – will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” by performing the LP in its entirety onstage. The rap icons are also recording a new album.
• Whitney Houston – Some of her relatives say they are “disgusted” with Kanye West for using an old image of her drug-strewn bathroom to sell albums. West reportedly paid $85,000 to license the pic for the album art. They are referring to the album cover for Pusha-T’s new Kanye- produced album, “Daytona”.
• Bruce Springsteen – inspired a plot point in the new “Solo: A Star Wars Story” movie. The Father-and-son screenwriting team of Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan say they found inspiration for the relationship between the young Solo and his parents from revelations about Springsteen’s tenuous relationship with his father, which he revealed in his 2016 autobiography, ‘Born to Run’.
• Def Leppard – guitarist Phil Collen has left the band’s tour with Journey less than a week after it began. Although Def Leppard has yet not issued a public statement, it’s reported that Collen’s absence is due to a family emergency. On Friday night Hershey, Pa., Steve Brown of Trixter subbed for Collen.
• Kelly Clarkson – will perform on the Country Music Television awards, and she’ll sing a classic rock song. She’ll sing The Guess Who’s ‘American Woman’ on the June 6 show in Nashville. That also happens to be the theme song for a show of the same name premiering the next day. Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Hunt and Luke Bryan will also perform.
• Dustin Lynch – is becoming known for his honesty in social media postings. He caused a stir with his reaction to his No. 1 hit ‘Small Town Boy’ being snubbed in the ACM Awards nominations. He didn’t try to hide his disappointment when he filmed himself watching the nominees announced live and found that he was not among them. For him, his openness is “kinda self-therapy” and the reaction he’s gotten from fans for his gut-level honesty has been positive all the way around.
• Luke Bryan – The tiny town of Irwin, Ohio — population, 623 — is where his 10th year of Farm Tours will start on Sept. 27. From there, he’ll take his show on the road to five other small town farms in Illinois, Iowa, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. Like he’s been doing since 2009, Bryan will set up his stage in the fields of local farmers, and he’ll again be giving away college scholarships to students from those farming families.

NO SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION:
They say that first impressions are everything. And while that may not be 100% true, it’s still important to have a positive initial encounter with certain people. And how do you do that? You’ve heard the tips: smile, stand up straight, make eye contact, ask them questions about themselves, be a good listener, etc…..Well, a University of Waterloo study seems to have found an important hack that goes a long way in ensuring that the person you’re meeting likes you. Plus, you don’t have to remember all that stuff I just mentioned. Here it is: Go into the encounter BELIEVING that the person will like you. That’s it. The power of self-confidence. The authors of the study explain, “If people expect acceptance, they will behave warmly, which in turn will lead other people to accept them; if they expect rejection, they will behave coldly, which will lead to less acceptance.” And how do you make yourself believe that someone is going to like you? That’s a whole other study, but remember that the person you are meeting is probably going through the same thing.
(I’m too busy trying to remember their name to do anything else!)
(Actually, I DO get a chance to make a second first impression. People always forget that we’ve already met!)

WISHFUL THINKING:
Kevin O’Leary, an investor on ABC’s “Shark Tank” and personal finance author, says you should have all of your debt paid off by…age 45. That includes your mortgage. The way he looks at it, in order to retire in your 60s, you need to get started down the proper financial path early by saving and minimizing unnecessary debt. He says, “Most careers start in early 20s and end in the mid-60s, so, when you’re 45 years old, the game is more than half over, and you better be out of debt, because you’re going to use the rest of the innings in that game to accrue capital (for retirement)”.
(I make enough money to retire comfortably, as long as I die the day after I turn 65!)
(The best time to start thinking about retirement is before your boss does!)
(If everyone erased their debt by age 45, the economy would be in tatters!)

SLEEP ON IT:
There are few better feelings than having had a good night’s sleep. And there are few worse than a really bad one. So if you think that you’ve had a long enough sleep, but still wake up feeling achy and crabby, you might want to consider your sleeping position. Sleep experts say that sleeping on your back is the best position. It’s an essentially a neutral position that is good for relieving aches and pains. And because the head is elevated, back sleepers are less likely to aggravate heartburn. Sleeping on your right side is known to trigger heartburn, and sleeping on either side can cause shoulder and hip pain. Research shows that only 8% of people naturally sleep on their backs.
(And 95% of snorers…)

TAKE THIS WITHOUT A GRAIN OF SALT:
Apparently it is getting harder and harder to find a salt shaker on the tables of upper-crust restaurants. Top chefs admit that they are asking management not to make salt shakers available, and here’s why:
• Salt shakers generally contain cheap salt, which chefs feel can ‘blemish’ the food they’ve prepared.
• Chefs like to be in charge of seasoning. And they fee that there is so much “spice and heat” in foods today that there is “no room” for salt.
• Table are too crowded. At some restaurants where a lot of dishes like pasta and main courses are shared, and there are so many plates and platters, having no salt reduces clutter on the table.
• It’s not a good look. There’s also the style quotient. No one has created an all-purpose replacement for those little shakers.
(Ummmm…..salt grinders, anyone?)
(Fancy restaurants? Doesn’t sound like much of a ‘Me’ problem!)
