BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ Four-time Oscar nominee Ridley Scott will receive the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award at the 58th Annual CAS Awards, on March 19. The prolific director-producer, who most recently worked on “The Last Duel” and “House of Gucci”, is being recognized for a nearly 60-year career that has also seen him direct such classics as “Thelma & Louise”, “Alien”, “Black Hawk Down”, “Blade Runner” and “Gladiator”, while exec producing acclaimed series such as “The Good Wife”, “The Good Fight” and “Raised by Wolves”.

★ Nick Lachey says he’s not the least bit curious about what his ex-wife, Jessica Simpson has written about their time together, but hints her memory of it is far different from his. He seems to be warning readers of Simpson’s “Open Book” — that the chapters about their marriage and subsequent divorce might not be accurate . . . in his eyes, at least. Lachey says the book is a hard pass for him. Quote: “I lived the book. I know what the truth is, so I don’t need to read someone’s version of it in a story.”
-TMZ
★ Lindsay Lohan will reportedly not be signing on to the upcoming Bravo program “The Real Housewives of Dubai”. A few years ago, Lohan told Emirates Woman that she relocated to Dubai for a “fresh start” away from the glare of publicity she endured at home. Despite the fact she now lives in Dubai and her personal drama is the stuff of showbiz legend, she has not been asked to join the program. Bravo announced this week that a new Real Housewives would be shot in the United Arab Emirates next year – the first one outside the United States.

★ “Happy Days” greaser Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, an icon of cool on the small screen, was known for his motorcycle, white T-shirts, jeans and, most of all, his dark brown leather jacket. One of the jackets was donated to the Smithsonian in 1980. Only a few others are known to exist. And now Henry Winkler, who played the ‘Fonz’ on the ’50s-themed show, is selling one of the character’s jackets, which he’s had in his possession for decades, in an auction that will take place Dec. 8. The jacket will be sold as part of a complete Fonzie outfit that also includes an original pair of blue jeans, T-shirt and biker boots. Pre-sale estimate? $50,000-$70,000. The items are part of the 26-lot Henry Winkler Collection.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Drake – Not only has his “Certifiable Lover Boy” back at #1 on the Billboard 200 for a 5th non-consecutive week at the top, he says he’s planning a “million-dollar rap battle.” He made the announcement on stage while hosting the “Til Death Do Us Part” event, saying: “We’re working on it.”
• Ed Sheeran – will still appear as musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, after testing positive for COVID-19 more than a week ago. He wrote on Insta: “I’m released from covid isolation…I’ve had the all clear and done my quarantine.” He went on to say: “Excited to hit the ground running with work again, and SNL is still on, so tune in Saturday.”
• Janet Jackson – Her infamous Super Bowl performance is the subject of a new documentary. The latest in FX and Hulu’s “The New York Times Presents” series, “Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson” will tell the story of the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, which saw Justin Timberlake briefly expose her breast to millions of viewers. It will premiere Nov. 19.
• Elton John — has amassed a collection of thousands of ‘crazy’ glasses in all shapes and sizes over the past 5 decades, and now he has partnered with Sam’s Club and Walmart on a career-spanning line of eyewear. One pair is named ‘Rocketman’ after his 1972 hit and biopic of the same name. Each pair comes emblazoned with an “E”, and the frames are priced between $95-$100.
• Metallica — has launched an online course about being in a band through MasterClass. It consists of 15 lessons totaling 2 hours, 45 minutes. James Hetfield quote: “we teach how we write songs and find inspiration for our music, (and) how the experiences we’ve had together have contributed to successful creative collaboration.”
• Tim McGraw – has released his festive new multi-single ‘Christmas All Over The World/It Wasn’t His Child’. He performed It Wasn’t His Child’ ABC’s CMA Country Christmas Special last year. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5ejm34zh
• Chris Stapleton – is featured on the deluxe version of Adele’s album “30”. Out Nov. 19, “30” deluxe is exclusive to Target and features 3 bonus tracks, including a new version of ‘Easy on Me’ as a duet with Stapleton. You might recall that while participating in Vogue’s popular “73 Questions” last month, she namedropped Stapleton as her dream duet partner.
• Bill Anderson – An exhibit dedicated to him will open Dec. 3 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Known both for his prolific songwriting and for his soft-spoken vocals, hence his nickname ‘Whisperin’ Bill Anderson’, he hit the country Top 20 more than 40 times, perhaps most iconically with ‘City Lights’, and his songs have been recorded by Willie Nelson, George Strait, Charley Pride and more.

SHOOTING THE BULL

HANDS FREE OR IT’S FREE:
Robot food delivery is officially a thing now…although you may not see it in your neighborhood anytime soon. Hundreds of knee-high robots, able to hold around 4 large pizzas, are now navigating college campuses and even some city sidewalks in the U.S., the U.K. and elsewhere. While robots were being tested before COVID-19, the companies building them say pandemic-related labor shortages and a growing preference for contactless delivery have accelerated things. Starship Technologies, with more than 1,000 robots in its fleet, just completed its 2 millionth delivery. Starship is delivering food on 20 US campuses, with 25 more to be added soon. They’re also operating on sidewalks in England, California, and the company’s hometown of Tallin, Estonia. Robot designs vary; some have 4 wheels and some have 6. Generally, they use cameras, sensors, GPS and sometimes laser scanners to navigate sidewalks and even cross streets, moving at about 5 mph. Starship charges $1.99 plus a service fee for each robot delivery.
(Still cheaper than DoorDash…and you don’t have to tip!)
(I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords — to deliver my lunch!)
(I heard there aren’t enough delivery drivers. Perhaps this is the “Domino’s effect”!)

STUDY SAYS:
➢ To a dog owner, that adorable “head tilt” thing they do is just about the cutest thing imaginable. And researchers from Eötvös Loránd University say they’ve discovered the important reason behind this endearing motion. They’ve determined the classic head tilt is a sign that your dog is both smart and understands what you’re saying. The team examined how intelligent some dogs are through their ability to learn the names of various toys. They found that dogs “present an asymmetry” when they hear a name they understand — such as tail wagging, sniffing with their nostrils, or motioning with one particular paw. This motioning with just one side of the body is a sign a brain functioning. They noticed that the head tilt often occurs when the dog’s owner asks it to bring a toy by saying its name – meaning the dog is both listening and understanding its owner. (Not my dog. For him, the head tilt means plain, abject confusion – same as when I do it!)
➢ The stereotype that women are more reactionary and prone to emotional outbursts than men is a myth, according to researchers from the University of Michigan. They tracked 142 men and women over a 75-day period, recording each person’s daily emotions, and found little to no emotional differences between the male and female participants. Study authors say this indicates that the average man’s emotions change and fluctuate just as much as the average woman, but the difference is that it all comes down to how people interpret the emotions women and men display: When a man becomes emotional while watching sports, others usually see him as “passionate.” But if a woman becomes emotional for any number of reasons, the team says people consider her “irrational” or “hysterical.” (And if a woman becomes emotional while watching sports…marry her!)
➢ Married couples who met on dating apps have a higher chance of getting a divorce, according to new research. The study concluded that 12% of couples who found their significant other online got divorced within the first 3 years of marriage — compared to only 2% of lovers who met through friends. The UK-based polling company Savanta ComRes, polled over 2,000 adults who were at least 30 years old and married at least once. They also noted that the likelihood of a split goes up as the years go by. After 7 years of marriage, 17% of couples who met through an app were divorced, compared to 10% of those who met through pals. (Of course, you can lay part of the blame on the fact that these people probably also met OTHER people on apps…)

Issues with the toilet on board SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule will leave a group of 4 astronauts without a bathroom option during their hours-long trip home from the International Space Station aboard the 13-foot-wide capsule this month. Instead, the crew will have to rely on “undergarments,” according to NASA’s Commercial Crew Program manager. (Ah. The “Shatner” method!)
