BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “Dog the Bounty Hunter” star Beth Chapman is once again battling cancer.   She was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning where doctors discovered what’s been called a “huge mass” in her throat. Chapman has been in L.A. to see a specialist because she has “felt sick” for the past few weeks.  An email statement on Wednesday from her attorney said:  “I can confirm that unfortunately, her cancer has returned.  “The doctors say it’s serious and are evaluating her treatment options.”  Chapman underwent surgery last year to remove a plum-sized cancerous tumor from her neck, and afterwards had been deemed to be cancer free.

★ Stephen Hillenburg died Monday after a battle with ALS. The creator of “SpongeBob SquarePants” revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with the disease. Hillenburg was a former marine biology teacher with an affinity for art. After combining his two loves, he created SpongeBob, along with a multi-million-dollar empire. He leaves behind a wife, Kathy, and son, Clay.

• Ariana Grande — has finally covered up her Pete Davidson tattoo, a few months after the pair called it quits. She showed off the coverup earlier this week while promoting the upcoming video for her latest single, ‘thank u, next’.
• Miley Cyrus – Her new song comes out today. She had previously wiped her Instagram account clean, but returned to the platform on Monday to post a cryptic video featuring a disco ball shaped like a broken heart slowly spinning to the sounds of a violin, with today’s date. • Brett Eldredge – has released his cover of Queen’s ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’.  He posted video of the song on the weekend, writing “We lost Freddie Mercury 27 years ago today, but his music still lives on.”  Eldredge’s version had already been used in a commercial for bike trainer company Peleton.
• Shania Twain – Ahead of the premiere of “Real Country,” her new talent competition series in which she and Jake Owen discover rising country acts, she spoke out about the lack of female artists on country music radio. Quote: “I’m fed up with the whole ageist thing as well as the sexist thing. This (show) is wide open, bring your talent on if you’re good enough, I don’t care what you are, as long as you’re a human being.”

DOG-NAPPING:
Some women say they can’t sleep because of their husband’s snoring.  Others, although rare, say that they can’t sleep well UNLESS their husband is sawing logs beside them.  But this, I haven’t heard before:  According to a new research from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, women sleep better next to dogs than their human partners.  The study involved 962 women living in the U.S., some of which shared the bed with a dog, a cat, a human partner, and in some cases, all of the above.  Dogs were less likely to wake their owners in the middle of the night than cats or humans, according to the results.  The study found that both cats and humans were equally disruptive to women’s sleep and provided them with fewer feelings of comfort and security than dogs.  Dog owners also reported earlier sleep and wake times than cat owners and those without pets.
(But you have to admit that guys rarely yack on the duvet!)
(Did the study have anything to say about women waking the GUYS up in the middle of the night…to talk?)
(I’ll tell my dog that part about them NOT waking their owners in the middle of the night…when he wakes me up at 3 o’clock tomorrow morning!)

FLY THE CHEAPSKATE SKIES:

It used to be the “worst-kept secret” in the airline industry:  You’ll get the best deal if you book your flight on a Tuesday.  Well, times change, and now which day is best?  That depends, but the day that you buy is NOT the biggest factor in how much you pay. Here are some factors to keep in mind:
• Book early:  Buy your seats between three weeks and three and a half months in advance of travel, since fares tend to be within 5 percent of their lowest then.
• Fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday:  They are the cheapest days to fly domestically, and if you get your tickets for mid-week, you can expect to save an average $73 per ticket. Sunday is the most expensive. It seems that for international flights, Thursdays and Fridays are best.
Oh, and for the record, what day is best to book your flight?  One study found that Tuesday at exactly midnight is actually the best time to buy domestic plane tickets, although Thursday is best for international flights.
(But no matter what day your flight is, you’ll still end up beside a crying baby, and probably in front of a “kicky” toddler!)
(I don’t care how much it costs me, just once, I’d like to depart from Gate #1.  Have you ever noticed that NO planes ever use Gate #1?)

FORBES’ HIGHEST-PAID TV HOSTS 2018:
1. ‘Judge’ Judy Sheindlin ($147,000,000):  Judge Judy —who has been on the air for more than two decades —sold the rights to her reruns for an estimated $100 million. That move more than tripled her usual yearly earnings.
2. Ellen DeGeneres ($87,500,000):  She made history this year as the first woman to receive $20 million for a Netflix stand-up special. Combined with the eight-figure check she gets from hosting her talk show and millions more in producer salaries and licensing fees, and she’s has just had her best year yet.
3. Dr. Phil McGraw ($77,500,000):  Last year’s champ, who has one of the most-watched syndicated shows on TV, has also moved behind camera, adding three executive producer credits to his name with his work on The Bull, The Doctors and Daily Mail TV. Plus, he co-founded “Doctors on Demand”, an app that connects people with psychologists and physicians.
4. Ryan Seacrest ($74,000,000):  As soon as his American Idol hosting gig wrapped up, it was back—and so was his eight-figure check. In addition to that Los Angeles gig, the producer of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” has to be back in New York each morning to host “Live with Kelly and Ryan”.
5. Steve Harvey ($44,000,000):  The comedian-turned-talk-show-host premiered his new show “Steve” last year.  The show has delivered in ratings but does not come close to the popularity of “Family Feud”, one of four game shows Harvey hosts.
(It sounds like a lot of money, but keep in mind, some of these people pay income tax!)
