BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
TODAY a memorial service for the late Ed Bradley, longtime “60 Minutes” correspondent (1981-2006) is scheduled for NYC’s Riverside Church (died NOVEMBER 9th of leukemia) . . . TONIGHT on the 1-hour TV special “Tony Bennett: An American Classic” (NBC/CTV), the legendary crooner celebrates his 80th birthday with the likes of Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Diana Krall, kd lang, Michael Buble, John Legend, and Christina Aguilera . . . Christina Aguilera will guest star on “CSI: New York” in FEBRUARY in an episode that will explore the topic of battered women, and, no, she’s not expected to play herself although her music will be featured in the show . . . Has actress Lindsay Lohan been self-mutilating? She’s been wearing casts and armbands on her wrists lately but a new photo shows what seems to be scars on her wrists, as well as a burn in the shape of a figure 8 . . . Lindsay Lohan has been named ‘Obsession Of The Year’ by “GQ” magazine, whatever that means . . . Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is handing over money to support an orphan girl he met while filming the movie “Blood Diamond” in South Africa (every star needs an African fashion accessory these days) . . . The Malawian judge presiding over a legal challenge of Madonna’s recent adoption of baby David has postponed his ruling on the case – again – this time claiming he’s simply ‘too busy’ to get around to it until at least NEXT WEEK (the kid’ll be in college before all this gets decided) . . . And oldies singer Lionel Ritchie says actor George Clooney would be a perfect match for his daughter because he’s a ‘fatherly type’ who’d be a good influence on her (like George would have any interest in dating a stick).

WHAT MAKES A CHEATER?
According to a new dating survey, most guys (74%) think that cheating starts with a kiss. But for women, a kiss doesn’t have to happen; it can be any number of other things. Here’s what some women consider to be cheating …
• Flirting provocatively …  35%.
• Confiding in other women … 36%.
• Dancing closely … 41%.
• Getting private dances at strip-joints … 79%.
• Engaging in online ‘relationships’ … 80%.
• Any sort of sexual contact … 100%.

SHIVERING IT OFF:
A researcher at Sweden’s Lund University says the body burns up more calories when the
temperature goes down. The discovery was actually made by accident when a lab heater broke and the temperature dropped 14 degrees. It was finally noticed because lab mice began quickly losing weight. Scientist Charlotte Erlanson-Albertson claims the ‘Deep Freeze Diet’ may work for humans if we sleep in a cold room and are active outdoors in chilly weather. (Yeah, that’s why all those Russian women are so thin.)

BS TURKEY DATA:
Just in time for Thanksgiving. We flip you the facts on the big bird …
• Eating the skin on a serving of roast turkey (dark meat) adds about 18% more calories to a serving without the skin.
• Nutritionists believe that the amount of tryptophan in turkey is insufficient by itself to induce sleepiness. Rather, it’s the traditional bread-potato-stuffing-pie Thanksgiving meal as a whole that triggers after-dinner lethargy.
• The phrase ‘cold turkey’ originally meant ‘suddenly’, because cold turkey can be prepared quickly and with little effort. The first use of ‘turkey’ to denote dud or failure dates to 1951.
• Wild Turkey bourbon was so named after a distillery executive shared his private supply with friends on their annual wild turkey hunt in 1940. The next year, according to corporate lore, they asked him to bring along some more of that ‘wild turkey bourbon’.
• If you strung together all the cranberries produced in North America, you’d be declared clinically insane. Nonetheless, they would stretch from Boston to Los Angeles some 565 times.

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
• In Britain, an elderly man who left his car parked illegally while he rushed his dying wife into London’s St Mary’s Hospital has been dinged with a parking ticket … even though considerate doctors placed a note on the windshield saying there was an emergency. You know you’re having a bad day when …
• In Iran, a wannabe bank robber told Tehran police he paid over $500 to a wizard who performed spells on him to make him invisible. The gullible guy then went to a local bank and started taking money out of customers’ hands … until a gang of them wrestled him to the floor and held him for the police.
• In Brazil, geneticists are now testing blood samples in an attempt to verify a claim that a cat gave birth to … puppies. A woman from the town of Passo Fundo says her cat ‘Mimi’ got pregnant after mating with a neighbor’s dog and delivered a litter of 6, including 3 that are cat-like and 3 that look like dogs. So what would you call them … dats or cogs?

FOR THE RECORD:
23-year-old Englishman David Fearn, who’s a rabid ‘James Bond’ fan, has legally changed his name to a new 69-word moniker that includes all 21 Bond film titles. He is now legally known as: James Dr No From Russia With Love Goldfinger Thunderball You Only Live Twice On Her Majesty’s Secret Service Diamonds Are Forever Live And Let Die The Man With The Golden Gun The Spy Who Loved Me Moonraker For Your Eyes Only Octopussy A View To A Kill The Living Daylights Licence To Kill Golden Eye Tomorrow Never Dies The World Is Not Enough Die Another Day Casino Royale … Bond.

BS AMAZING FACT:
Coca-Cola would be green if coloring wasn’t added to it.

SAY WHAT?
“I do have a cellphone. I’m not that bad. I want you to know it’s not a very fancy model, but it’s not a rotary cellphone either.”
– Movie/TV star Steve Carell (“The Office”) in “Parade” magazine.
