Bullseye!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Wendy Williams’ talk show reign is reportedly coming to an official end, following months of health struggles. According to sources, “The Wendy Williams Show” host, who has been on hiatus from her talk show since September, “will never return” to her hosting seat and a search for her permanent replacement is quietly underway. Allegedly, the combination of Williams’ health struggles and continuously strong ratings in her absence are what have driven studio executives to decide to rebrand the show and continue without its namesake.

★ Ye is vowing to be there for his family this holiday season. On Wednesday, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West said he wants to “restore” his family with estranged wife Kim Kardashian and their 4 kids. He shared his plans for a possible reconciliation while visiting the L.A. Mission, where he delivered an impassioned speech about the importance of being with loved ones. He said: “Now it’s time to restore the families this Thanksgiving. It’s all about restoring the family.” Ye also asked everyone to pray for his family, saying that “We made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes.” Kim Kardashian recently started dating “Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson.

★ The cast of “This Is Us” is getting a generous bonus. Creator Dan Fogelman reportedly stepped in to support the actors’ request for more money, and the network ultimately agreed to a $2 million cash bonus for each of the 7 original cast members, and a $1 million bonus for Jon Huertas, who was promoted to a series regular in Season 2. This Is Us remains one of the highest rated and acclaimed drama series of the past decade.

★ Matt King is officially a “Jeopardy!” legend, though maybe not for the most ideal reason. On Tuesday’s episode, he got off to a solid start, but ended with one of the lowest scores in show history. Things seemed to be going all right for him, as he got his score up to $2,400, thanks to categories about football. But soon after, it all went very wrong, as the contestant blew all of his winnings and dipped into the negatives, finishing out the game at MINUS $6,400, and getting shut out of the ‘Final Jeopardy!’ round.

MORE CHORES TO LIVE FOURSCORE:
Yes, household chores can be a drag (especially if that’s the most exciting thing on your weekend ‘to-do’ list), but researchers are saying that tasks like dusting, scrubbing floors and washing windows just might be a key to staying healthy in to old age. A team of scientists in Singapore conducted a study on 500 people aged 21-90. (By the way, most of those who reported doing “high” levels of housework were women.) After taking into account factors including age, sex, and the amount of light housework undertaken, they found cognitive and attention scores were 8% and 14% higher for older adults doing high amounts of heavy housework – on average 131 minutes a week – compared low levels. The researchers concluded that regular physical activity “improves physical and mental health, mitigates the risks and effects of chronic diseases, and reduces falls, immobility, dependency and mortality among older adults”.
(It may be true. But I’m not willing to risk it!)
(Of course, the term ‘heavy housework’ is purely subjective. Take my teenager, for instance, and check out the look on his face when I ask him to help vacuum. And by help, I mean: “Could you please lift your legs?”)
(By the way, one household chore that does NOT help you stay healthy into old age: cleaning the gutters [eavestroughs]!!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ Police in Australia say a man was charged for driving without a license, and officers confiscated his unusual vehicle — a motorized cooler. A 25-year-old was spotted driving the motorized cooler on a sidewalk in Kerang, Victoria. A photo posted to Facebook by police shows a blue cooler on a metal platform with 4 wheels and an engine, and handlebars arranged so the cooler serves as a seat. Another pic shows the unusual vehicle loaded onto the back of a large tow truck. The cooler was impounded for 30 days, and the man was cited for driving without a license. The Facebook post said the cooler “is considered a vehicle due to the size/engine capacity…and must comply with road rules”. (Are they trying to tell me this guy was sober?) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/me5wwdcy
➢ A woman who married herself is now getting a divorce because she has met someone else. In September, 33-year-old Cris Galera of Sao Paulo, Brazil took her own hand in marriage, but now has decided to call it quits. The fashion model says she was “happy while it lasted” but she started to believe in love “the moment” she “met someone else special”. Although she boasts 184,000 Instagram followers (@cristianegaleraoficia), she isn’t taking notice of any trolling. She says she decided that she will “no longer read the hate comments.” (We’re sorry that things didn’t work out between herself…)

DID YOU KNOW?
Starting Monday, some Canadians will be able to order a toke, in addition to a burger and Coke. Uber has announced that it will allow users in Ontario to place orders for cannabis through Uber Eats. The app will list cannabis retailer Tokyo Smoke on its marketplace, letting customers can place orders through Uber Eats, then pick it up at the nearest Tokyo Smoke store. (Aww, man! I still have to put on my coat and go somewhere? Buzzkill!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Black Friday”, the day after US Thanksgiving that’s touted as the biggest single shopping day of the year in America, though that’s statistically untrue. The ‘black’ refers to retailers finally turning a profit after spending much of the year ‘in the red’. These days, many retailers kick off their annual sales on Thursday (or sooner – waaay sooner…). It is also now celebrated to varying degrees in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, France, Switzerland, and other countries.
• “Buy Nothing Day”, a 24-hour moratorium on holiday shopping (observed today in North America; tomorrow internationally), created as a protest against outlandish consumption and commercialism, particularly during the holiday season.
• “Good Grief Day”, a phrase often used by ‘Charlie Brown’ of Charles Schulz’s comic strip, “Peanuts”. Schulz was born on this day in 1922, and today is dedicated to both him and his enduring comic strip.
• “Cake Day”, an annual salute to the classic dessert that’s the climax of many a celebration. What’s the best kind? Angel Food? Black Forest? Red Velvet? Double Chocolate Fudge?

SATURDAY-
• “Small Business Saturday”, an annual shopping holiday on the Saturday after US Thanksgiving, a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day is dedicated to supporting local small businesses.
• “Bavarian Cream Pie Day”, an annual salute to the delicious, chilled dessert made with cooked egg custard layered with whipped cream and toppings in a pie shell.
• “Pie in the Face Day”, rather than Bavarian, can I opt for pumpkin instead?  After all, it IS the holidays!
• “National Electric Guitar Day”, it’s also, not-so-coincidentally, Jimi Hendrix’s birthday (born in 1942).
• “Pins and Needles Day”, may refer to that tingling feeling you get after sitting or lying in an awkward position – but I see it as Christmas decorating. We have pine needles and metal pins all over the house now – and I won’t be able to walk around barefoot until probably February…

SUNDAY-
• “Letter Writing Day”, when we’re encouraged to take a few minutes to send someone a handwritten letter. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone, either printed or in cursive? (Well, I left a note on someone’s windshield yesterday…and it was FULL of ‘cursive’!)
• “French Toast Day”. Either bread dipped in egg and fried … or perhaps a big ol’ glass of Champagne?
• “Make Your Own Head Day”, a crafty day often celebrated by artists and grade-school children. The idea is to create your own head through one of many different artistic options. The rule is that the head you make must be your own. (Looks like I’m getting a head of myself!)
• “Red Planet Day”, commemorating the launch of the Spacecraft Mariner 4 on Nov. 28, 1964. Its 228-day mission brought the spacecraft within 6,118 miles of Mars on July 14, 1965.
