BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ A 2-part docuseries about the high-profile divorce between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been ordered at Discovery+. According to the streaming service, “Johnny vs Amber” will tell “the story of the breakdown of their relationship and how it tipped into the celebrity court case of the decade…from two polarized perspectives”. In 2016, Heard filed for divorce, and accusations of abuse shook the press headlines and their fans. Eventually, Heard secured a restraining order against Depp, which lead to leaked evidence of alleged domestic violence. The situation quickly escalated, with Depp suing The Sun newspaper for portraying him as a ‘wife-beater’.

★ Jennifer Lawrence went method while filming her highly anticipated new movie “Don’t Look Up” — at least when it came to her character’s fondness for weed. At a Q&A with reporters, she admitted she got high on the Boston set of the Adam McKay-directed social satire while playing a PhD candidate who calms her nerves with cannabis after discovering a comet hurtling towards Earth. McKay elaborated, explaining that Lawrence asked for permission to partake before filming a scene opposite Meryl Streep in which she had no scripted lines of dialogue. Lawrence, who announced in September that she’s expecting her first child, was quick to point out that at the time of filming, she wasn’t yet pregnant. Don’t Look Up opens in theaters Dec. 10.

★ Idris Elba is reportedly in “early” talks to play a Bond villain. He’s previously been tipped to take over from Daniel Craig as ‘007’, but now it’s being said that he has held “informal” discussions about another role in the iconic spy franchise. According to a source, “He won’t be the title character, but they do recognize the amount of pull and respect he commands, and they want to work with him on a completely original character for the next installment.”
-ContactMusic
★ Natalie Morales said farewell on Friday to her viewers and colleagues on “Today” after 22 years at NBC. On her final day with the network, she recalled her coverage of the rescue of 33 Chilean miners, 2 royal weddings, 8 Olympics and survivors of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing crossing the finish line at the following year’s race. Morales, who worked as an anchor for “Today” and correspondent for “Dateline NBC,” is leaving to join CBS as a host of its afternoon program, “The Talk.”

The first trailer for the movie, which hits theaters in March, features a snippet of the song ‘Nobody Like U’. LINK:  https://youtu.be/XdKzUbAiswE
• Adele – Her new song ‘I Drink Wine’ was originally 15 minutes long. As it appears on her new “30” album, it comes in at just over 6 minutes. She says it was shortened because “[The label] was like, ‘Listen, everyone loves you, but no one’s playing a 15-minute song on radio.’”
• Rod Stewart — says that in the 70s, he bought John a fancy “pop-up fridge” with a bottle of champagne inside for Christmas, but felt bad when Elton got him a Rembrandt painting. Quote: “I’ve never felt so stingy. He’s eternally the most generous person I’ve ever known.”
• David Bowie – is the subject of a new film. Brett Morgen is helming the unique production, compiled from of thousands of hours of rare performance footage. Morgen says the project has been in the making for the past 4 years, and the currently untitled feature is “neither documentary nor biography, but an immersive cinematic experience”. It may debut at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival in January.

SHOOTING THE BULL

COLLARED CALLER:
Fetching sticks and chewing toys may soon seem like “quaint” old hobbies to modern doggos. Researchers at the University of Glasgow have created a ball that allows dogs to video-call their owners when they are feeling lonely. Designed to tackle separation anxiety in pets, DogPhone is a soft ball fitted with a sensor inside. When the dog plays with the ball, a signal is sent to a laptop which launches a video call. Its inventor says she tried it with her own dog Zach, and by the end of the experiment, he was calling her up to 5 times a day. Did Zach know what he was doing? She’s not sure. But it sounds like Zach enjoys it nonetheless. Dogs can also “answer” a video call by moving the ball.
(That’s great. Now my dog known how to use Zoom better than I do!)
(Yes, won’t it be a great feeling to be at work and watch your dog chew the couch . . . and not be able to do a thing about it?)

TOTALLY UNEXPECTED:
☞ A hiker discovered a Hawaiian stream with 1.2% alcohol content. The drunken brook was discovered when the hiker sniffed its strange aroma while enjoying the scenery on Oahu island. He contacted a local environmental activist who alerted the Department of Health. The agency determined that a runoff pipe had contaminated the water to the point that it became alcoholic. 1.2% alcohol by volume is the same amount found in many low-alcohol beers. (THAT’S what I call a streaming service!)
☞ A man has been banned from an all-you-can-eat restaurant for eating too much. A Chinese food live-streamer known as “Mr. Kang”, says he has been blacklisted from Handadi Seafood BBQ Buffet in Changsha after a series of binges. He says he ate 1.5kg of pork trotters during his first visit and 3.5-4kg of prawns on another visit. He claims the restaurant is “discriminatory” against people who can eat a lot. But the restaurant owner told a reporter that Mr. Kang was eating him out of business, saying: “Every time he comes here, I lose a few hundred yuan.” He went on to claim that Kang can drink 20-30 bottles of soy milk in one visit, and while customers usually people use tongs to pick up prawns, Kang “uses a tray to take them all.” (Would you call that “shellfish”?)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ Five years ago, Wanda Dench sent an accidental text that sparked a holiday tradition. Dench, from Mesa AZ, thought she was inviting her grandson for dinner — except the message didn’t go to her grandson. It went to Jamal Hinton, a high school kid in the same area. They had a laugh, then Hinton jokingly asked if he could still come over. Dench replied: “Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do … feed everyone.” Since then, the pair have connected every year, and Hinton posts about the get-togethers on social media. Even last year, after Dench’s husband passed away from Covid-19, she was still able to connect with Hinton for the holiday. And this year, they’ll meet once again. (If you had a family like mine, you’d understand the attraction of enjoying Thanksgiving with a total stranger…)
➢ When Rita Hopkins turned 70, she decided to get a tattoo. Four years later, with the assistance of a program at her senior living community called Living the Dream, she was able to make it happen. Living the Dream helps residents at the Lexington KY, facility fulfill items on their bucket lists. For some, it’s going to a sporting event or traveling, but in Hopkins’ case, she wanted some ink done. Earlier this month, Hopkins chose to get an infinity sign with 3 small hearts to represent her grandchildren, who recently moved to Michigan, and can’t see her as often as they used to. Quote: “I’ll always have this right here with me.”

DID YOU KNOW?
Have another slice…pumpkin pie is good for you. Some spices usually included in the recipe — cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger – not only give the pie its distinctive flavor – they help improve our mood. Cinnamon increases levels of calming brainwaves, nutmeg produces feel-good brain chemicals, and ginger relaxes your muscles. One slice also contains more than the recommended daily value of vitamin A, which benefits eyesight and the immune system.
