HOW TO RETIRE AT 85:
Thanks to steep drops in the value of savings over the past year-and-a-half, more of us are planning to delay retirement. A study released Thursday by insurer Sun Life Financial has found that fully 65% of workers surveyed plan to stay on the job at least one more year than planned, an 11% increase from a similar survey in January. Why? There’s a huge drop in confidence due to the fall of stock markets since 2007. At the same time, longer life expectancies mean most of us need to build up more savings before retiring. (Hmm, is Walmart looking for greeters?)

According to a new poll, 1-in-10 of us plans to spend more than 30 hours shopping online during the upcoming holiday season … while at work. On average, we’ll spend 14.4 hours holiday shopping online from work this year. ‘Convenience’ is the reason a third of respondents say they shop online, while a quarter cite ‘boredom’. Roughly half those surveyed say they bank online at work; 60% click on e-mail links to shopping sites; and 17% click on shopping links from social network sites. About 11% of us plan to use a smart phone for holiday shopping as well.
