BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The iconic “Friends” role of Rachel Green was almost played by “Saved by The Bell” actress Tiffani Thiessen instead of Jennifer Aniston. Thiessen, who’s promoting her new cookbook “Pull Up a Chair,” revealed that interesting tidbit on Nikki Glaser’s show this week. Thiessen said that she was “just a little too young” to be properly paired with the rest of the cast. Thiessen was 20 when the first episode of “Friends” aired in September 1994. Aniston was 25 at the time.

★ Tom Hardy says that his 10-year-old son Louis was his ”spirit guide” while filming “Venom”. Hardy plays the title role in the new Marvel movie (out tomorrow) and says that Louis told him what he was doing wrong, and that he was “doing more things wrong than . . .right because children are deeply honest.”
(Doing more things wrong than right? Talk about ‘venom’….)
-ET
★ Jessica Chastain says she chooses a ‘different fragrance for each part she plays. The Oscar-nominated actress – who currently fronts the campaign for Ralph Lauren’s fragrance ‘Woman’ – says she often switches up her perfume to suit a specific role because fragrance is a personal choice and it helps her get into character.
(And also because they pay her to say crap like that…)
-ContactMusic
★ Nicolas Cage says that he takes as many acting jobs as he can because he fears that his “self-destructive” tendencies will lead him astray if he isn’t busy. Cage says that, “If I don’t have somewhere to go in the morning and a job to do. . . then I’m just going to sit and order two bottles of red wine and dissolve, and I don’t want to be that person, so I have to work.” Cage, is starring in seven movies released in 2018, including his latest thriller, “Mandy”, and already has four movies due out next year.
(That actually explains a lot…)

★ Fan Bingbing, who starred as ‘Blink’ in 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” has been slapped with a $70 million fine for tax evasion and other offences by Chinese authorities. She hadn’t been seen in public since July 1st, but now has resurfaced with an apology, saying she feels “ashamed and guilty” for what she did and asking “for everyone’s forgiveness.” Bingbing’s whereabouts have been the subject of intense speculation, and although her current location is unknown, reports say she has been held in secret detention. Fan Bingbing is China’s best-known actress and highest-paid celebrity for four years running.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga – ‘Shallow’, her duet with Bradley Cooper, has put him on the Billboard singles chart for the first time. The song, a ballad from the “A Star Is Born” soundtrack, debuts at No. 14 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart (dated Oct. 6) and No. 4 on the Pop Digital Song Sales survey with 12,000 downloads sold.
• Taylor Swift — Two years ago, she donated $10,000 to the family of a 5-year-old boy with autism so they could buy him a service dog. She finally had a chance to meet the now 8-year-old boy, named Jacob after her recent concert in Houston, Texas. Swift hooked Jacob and his mother and sister – plus his dog Reid — up with front-row tickets and backstage passes.
• Taylor Swift — will open the 2018 American Music Awards. She is also competing for Artist of the Year alongside Drake, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and Post Malone. This will be her first awards show performance in nearly three years.
• Janis Joplin – on the 48th anniversary of her death, a new book written by a close friend claims that she didn’t die from an overdose. Peggy Caserta’s book, “I Ran Into Some Trouble” makes the claim that although Joplin was taking heroin in the minutes leading up to her death, she actually tripped on the room’s deep shag carpet, causing her to fall and break her nose, which led her to asphyxiate.
• David Bowie — His legendary 2000 Glastonbury headline performance will be released in full for the first time. His greatest hits set is considered to be one of the festival’s best ever Sunday night closing shows. “David Bowie Glastonbury 2000” will be available November 30.
• John Legend — has announced the release of his first-ever Christmas album, “A Legendary Christmas”, plus a 25-date holiday tour, which will kick off on Nov. 15. The album will include eight classics like ‘Silver Bells’ and ‘The Christmas Song’, as well as six original Christmas songs, including a duet with Stevie Wonder.
• Miranda Lambert – Her albums “Revolution” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” have both been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The singles `Mama’s Broken Heart’ and ‘The House That Built Me’’ are both triple platinum, and the singles ‘Over You’ and ‘Automatic’ have been certified double platinum.
• Troy Gentry — One of the last recordings he ever made was Montgomery Gentry’s duet with Ronnie Milsap on Milsap’s new album, “The Duets.” They collaborated on a version of “Shakey Ground.” Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Jason Aldean, Kacey Musgraves, George Strait, Little Big Town and Luke Bryan are among the other guest musicians. “The Duets” comes out January 18th.
• Garth Brooks – wants fans to treat his October 20 show at Indiana’s Notre Dame Stadium like “Game Day”. He says: “I’d like to see five guys in the full gold or yellow body paint with a G-A-R-T-H on them” Brooks is also planning a special soundcheck event before the concert for Notre Dame students and faculty.
SHOULD YOU EAT THE FUNKY BREAD?
You’ve got all the ingredients spread across the counter and are all set to make a delicious sandwich when you unwrap a loaf of bread and see it. A chunk of green mold. Should you cut off the gross part or chuck the entire loaf? While the practical person in you says you can eat around it, science says otherwise. Marianne Gravely, a senior technical information specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, says that she doesn’t recommend eating it, even if you cut off the mold first. “With soft food, it’s very easy for the roots [of the mold], or the tentacles, or whatever creepy word you want to use, to penetrate” deeper into the food. That’s right. Just because you can’t see mold, doesn’t mean that you aren’t eating it. Molds are a type of fungi, and have a stalk with spores on top that form the colorful blue-green burst that you see on food. What you don’t see are the microscopic root threads underneath. So, what looks like “clean” bread may actually be teeming with mold threads. Plus, moldy foods may also have invisible bacteria growing along with the mold. And another thing? If mold appears on one slice of bread, there’s a pretty good chance that there are spores already growing on the rest of them.
(And that, honey, is why I eat so fast!)
(I guess you’re saying I shouldn’t leave it for my family, either?)
(Suddenly I have the feeling that I’ve cheated death more times than I’d like to know about!)

OLD TOYS ‘R’ US:
Despite the fact that the American Toys ‘R’ Us toy store chain went broke, its Canadian cousin is still in business, and it is looking to overhaul its brand. How? By getting the over-30 crowd to buy toys, and not necessarily for their kids, that’s how. Aside from redesigning its stores, one of the most exciting plans put forward by CEO Melanie Teed-Murch in her efforts to resurrect the struggling chain is the introduction of a department full of nostalgic toys. That’s right, all those ‘classic’ toys that you grew up collecting and loving, some of which you still have tucked away in your basement (or your parents’ basement) could be available at your local Toys ‘R’ Us. Exactly what would be available in the ‘nostalgia’ department hasn’t been confirmed, but we’re thinking you’ll be seeing shelves full of things like Furbies, Sky Dancers, Easy-Bake Ovens, Polly Pockets, Rubik’s Cubes, Simon games, and Pokémon, whatever that is. And Tamagotchis! Of course, Tamagotchis! Some of these items will be “collectibles” with prices in the hundreds of dollars. The company is also looking at introducing eateries and beverage stations.
(And next year, ‘Beers R Us’!)
(Should we tell them about eBay?)
(They don’t have Tamagotchis now? No wonder they’re going broke!)

CRAZY (AND REAL) THINGS COUPLES DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT EACH OTHER UNTIL THEY GOT MARRIED:
» “He’s super anal about cleaning the apartment: Even after he vacuums or mops, he’ll go around picking up any stray hair or anything he might have missed. If someone is coming over, he’ll go crazy cleaning up – even if it’s someone who’s been over millions of times.” (That’s what you call a “keeper”!)
» “My husband has an unusual sleep habit.” I kept finding a single tissue wadded up under his side of the bed. I asked about it, and apparently, he just holds it in his fist all night -it’s something he did as a kid. He’s like a large baby.”
» “She doesn’t screw the cap on anything. Jars, juice, toothpaste, contact lens solution, you name it. More than once, I’ve grabbed some container by the lid and it went flying.” (That’s not where I thought you were going after the first few words there…)
» “I found out that my husband didn’t want kids. He told me this three weeks after getting married. Of course, we talked about whether or not we wanted kids before we got married. When he finally came clean, he revealed that kids weren’t something he ever wanted but he thought it was something he eventually would start to want.”
» “My wife refuses to [do her business] with the door closed. Also refuses to use the exhaust fan. If I reach in and try to turn on the fan, she shrieks like a banshee.” (What kind of crap is that?)
(I guess you wouldn’t think to ask about some of these things ahead of time…)
