BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Wendy Williams has postponed her postponed season debut. “The Wendy Williams Show” will now return on Oct. 18 amid the star’s “ongoing medical issues.” A statement on Instagram says: “Wendy will not be returning with new shows on Oct. 4. She has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work.” Williams’ health and personal struggles have played out in the public in recent years. She’s taken time away from her show to treat her Graves’ disease, an immune system disorder that causes the thyroid to become overactive. She also spent time in a sober living residential facility to treat her addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs. Her team originally said the show’s Sept. 20 premiere date wouldn’t change, but it did — to Oct. 4 — upon the news that she had a breakthrough case of COVID. Around that time, it was reported that Williams was voluntarily admitted to a New York hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Prices range from $390-$790, and the pieces are available to purchase via The Row website.

★ “Law & Order” is coming back! The procedural crime drama series that earned 6 Primetime Emmy Awards and launched several spinoffs, is returning to TV after more than a decade off the air. The “original show” will return to NBC for Season 21, which “will continue where the show left off in 2010”, according to a press release, “with the classic format that explores 2 separate, yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crimes and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.” A premiere date and casting have not yet been announced.

★ Disney+ has finally set the premiere date for “The Book of Boba Fett.” The new live-action “Star Wars” series will debut Dec. 29. The Book of Boba Fett is described as “a thrilling Star Wars adventure” that “finds legendary bounty hunter ‘Boba Fett’ and mercenary ‘Fennec Shand’ navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”

SECRET AGE-ENTS:
⇒ Can you still wear the pants you wore at age 21? A new study says that people who can’t fit into the jeans they wore when they were 21 are at increased risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The Newcastle University study, of course, doesn’t take into account the rise and fall and rise of skinny jeans. The good news? The same study found that people who don’t fit into their jeans from 21-years-old but are able to lose 10-15% of their body weight can ‘achieve remission’ and reverse the risk. There you go. It’s that simple, just go lose 15% of your body weight! (Works for me. I was already grossly out of shape at 21!)
⇒ If you’re under 40, life is going to throw some pretty weird stuff your way, according to scientists. Thanks to the largely progression of climate change Vrije Universitiet (Amsterdam) climate scientist Wim Thiery says his studies determined that kids born this year will face 7 times more heat waves, twice as many wildfires, and about 3 times as many droughts as their grandparents. Worse, he says droughts and heat waves may continue to grow more extreme, making the problem even worse than the research suggests. It’s an alarming prognosis that underscores the importance of taking urgent, significant steps to keep climate change in check. (On the plus side, if you’re under 40, you’ll also live to see all the people who caused this — die!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ It was a case of art imitating “heist”. A Danish artist who was loaned $84,000 by a museum to incorporate into recreations of 2 of his pieces turned in a pair of blank canvases and said they were a new artwork, titled “Take the Money and Run”. Jens Haaning was given the cash, plus the offer of a further $7K if required, to recreate his previous works entitled “An Average Danish Annual Income” and “An Average Austrian Annual Income” for an exhibit named “Work It Out”. This was on top of an artist’s fee of $4,000. Of course, The Kunsten Museum of Modern Art was shocked when he pocketed all the cash and turned in a couple of blank canvases, but a spokesperson says it still “represents” the conceptually interesting artwork. (The guy may not know art – but he knows what he likes – cash!)
➢ A missing persons case came to a bizarre end after the subject of the hunt joined his own search party. 50-year-old Bayhan Mutlu was reported missing in a rural neighbourhood near the Turkish city of İnegöl after a night of drinking. Police were told that he had wandered into woods and failed to reappear. Search and rescue teams began scouring the area. The search was initially unable to find any trace of him, but things soon took an unexpected turn. A TV station reports that as members of the rescue party began calling out Mutlu’s name, a man who had been helping with the search came forward to ask, “Who are we looking for? I am here.” (Wouldn’t you love to be the cop who had to file THAT report?)

DID YOU KNOW?
it turns out that online daters don’t waste their time when it comes to choosing who to “swipe right” on. A recent study found that users know within one second whether or not to express interest in someone they see on their screen. The study, by the Michigan State University Department of Psychology, found that it all comes down to “judging the book by its cover”. The attractiveness of a person is primarily what compels another to swipe right. Within a split second, the user determines whether or not they will accept a date, usually based on appearance. (Know why this wasn’t on the news? Because it’s not news to anyone!)
