Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Tom Cruise’s next door neighbor in Beverly Hills apparently got so hammered he got confused as to which his house was his and attempted to scale the wall surrounding la casa del Cruise, so Tom’s security zapped him with a Taser to refresh his memory (cops later arrested him for trespassing) . . . Production on the Russell Crowe-starring biblical epic “Noah” on Long Island NY has been put on hold as Hurricane Sandy lashes the area (postponed by flooding – sort of ironic, no?) . . . Despite the sadness of splitting with her hubby of 30-years, Danny DeVito (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), actress Rhea Perlman is said to be relieved because she’s tired of his ‘wandering eye’ (he’s  5 ft-tall, overweight, and balding – what a catch!) . . . RadarOnline reports 25-year-old actress Evan Rachel Wood (“True Blood”) & 26-year-old fiancé Jaime Bell (“Billy Elliot”) are just days away from getting hitched after picking up a marriage license in Beverly Hills (she also dated Marilyn Manson – some taste!) . . . Former “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammar reportedly took his 3-month-old daughter to LA’s Playboy Mansion for a Halloween bash and partied till the wee hours, whooping it up while Baby Faith was tucked into her bassinet (we smell another divorce in the offing!) . . . And 86-year-old rock & roll pioneer Chuck Berry says he’s planning to release his 1st studio album since 1979 – as soon as he finds ‘a suitable business partner’ (BS translation: a sucker with money to blow on this lamebrain idea).

TODAY’S SHOW BIZ SKED:

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Calvin Harris – Today the DJ/producer releases his 3rd solo album, “18 Months”, which includes collaborations with Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, Kelis, Ne-Yo, and Rihanna.

• Madonna – She’s bought her daughter Lourdes an apartment for her 16th birthday after the teen reportedly threatened to move in with her father, Carlos Leon. The condo is just a few blocks from her Upper East Side home in Manhattan and also near … the Kabbalah Center.
• Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Today his 35th studio album “Psychedelic Pill” is out, hard on the heels of the well-received Summer release “Americana”. Due to the length of many of the tracks, it’s being packaged as a double-CD and triple-LP vinyl edition.
• Rolling Stones – Due to the price of tickets, some claim flying to NYC to see the band’s 50th anniversary shows could actually work out cheaper for Brit fans than seeing them in London.
• Skrillex – The dubstep star has split with British singer Ellie Goulding. They began dating in February after her vocals were used on his EP “Bangarang”. The problem: they both have successful careers and they live in different countries.
• Taylor Swift – Her just-announced “Red Tour” will include 58 shows in 45 cities in 29 US states and 3 Canadian provinces in 2013. It kicks off in Omaha, Nebraska on March 13th.

SMART BULB:
Today Philips launches its new ‘Hue’ smart lightbulbs, which are being sold exclusively in Apple Stores worldwide. The electronics giant becomes the latest to launch a web-enabled LED lightbulb that automates lighting in the home using integrated wireless technology. App users can set lighting patterns or make it look like someone is home while they are away. A starter pack (MSRP: $199) includes 3 bulbs (600 lumen/50 watt equivalent) that work in regular lamps. Also included is a ‘smart bridge’, which connects the bulbs to your wireless router and with each other. Eventually other products could also possibly integrate with them. Once connected, the bulbs can be set up in minutes to link with ‘Hue’ smartphone and tablet apps.

REAL MUSEUMS STRAIGHT OUT OF YOUR NIGHTMARES:
If you’re the type to pay to visit a ‘Haunted House’, you’ll likely enjoy these attractions as well …
• ‘The Hair Cave’ – Nope, those aren’t stalactites hanging from the cave roof … it’s real human hair! Obsessive Turkish collector Chez Galip happily shares his mammoth display of 16,000 locks with anyone brave enough to visit.
• ‘Gallery of Paleontology & Compared Anatomy’ – Part of the French Natural History Museum, this gallery answers the question, “What happens to zoo animals when they die?” In the 1890s, the Jardin des Plantes zoo’s pile of dead animal remains was used for many of these exhibits.
• ‘Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum’ – This is the converted Cambodian school where at least 15,000 dissidents were tortured and killed under the Khmer Rouge. While other museums about atrocities delicately display collections of victims’ belongings, this one went right for … the skulls.
• ‘Santa Maria della Concezione’ – In an ancient church in Rome is this display of artworks created from the bones of the Capuchin monks who lived here in the early 17th Century, lovingly arranged and glued together by the following friars.
• ‘Seodaemun Prison History Museum’ – This prison complex in Seoul, South Korea has become a showcase of torture methods, using life-size wax figures. Some of the icky practices: thrusting bamboo shoots under fingernails and forcing red hot chili water down the nose.
• ‘William P Didusch Center for Urologic History’ – This Maryland museum is dedicated to the horrific instruments doctors have been slipping into men’s privates since the invention of nightmares. Don’t forget to pick up a gallstone in the gift shop.

FLU VACCINE MYTHS:
Common misinformation that’s still circulating about flu vaccines …
✗ You can get the flu, or a mild case of it, from the vaccine. In truth, the injection contains no live virus, only viral proteins. It’s impossible to get or to spread the flu from the injection.
✗ The flu vaccine may not be safe for pregnant women or babies. In fact, the flu vaccine is safe for pregnant women, and for babies older than 6 months.
✗ Antibiotics can fight the flu if you get it. Wrong. Antibiotics kill bacteria; the flu is a virus. There are anti-viral drugs but they only seem to work if taken within 48 hours of the start of symptoms.
✗ You don’t need to get the flu vaccine if you got it last year. Not so. The immunity you get from a shot wanes by the following year. Also the strains of flu virus change from year-to-year.
✗ The flu vaccine contains thiomerosal, which may be harmful. Actually it’s not they type of mercury shown to be harmful, and it was removed from almost all vaccines in 2001 anyway.
