BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Add “Lethal Weapon” to the list of movies getting the TV treatment. FOX-TV has given the go-ahead for a pilot based on the 1987 action pic that starred Mel Gibson & Danny Glover. The TV incarnation revolves around the unlikely partnership between a former Navy SEAL and a Texas cop who moves to LA. TV networks have been scrambling lately to grab movie titles for TV adaptations due to their built-in name recognition. CBS-TV has a “Rush Hour” redo coming mid-season and ABC-TV has a comedy on tap based on the 1989 John Candy movie “Uncle Buck”.

★ Brit actor Hugh Grant has refused to confirm rumors he is soon to become a dad again. His Swedish partner, TV producer Anna Eberstein, is believed to be pregnant after she was photographed apparently sporting a big baby bump last week. Grant’s people have declined to comment. If the rumor is true, it will be the movie star’s 4th child in as many years. He became a 1st-time father in 2011 when ex-girlfriend Tinglan Hong gave birth to their daughter Tabitha. At the time he said: “Now that I have a child, I recommend it. Get some.”

★ And actress Nicole Kidman’s London play “Photograph 51” was halted Friday night when her co-star collapsed onstage. Kidman, who plays scientist ‘Rosalind Franklin’ in the production, was approaching the final half hour of the play when Will Attenborough, grandson of late actor/director Richard Attenborough, passed out. An ambulance was called to the Noel Coward Theatre; the theater manager announced a 15-minute break; and then the performance resumed with Attenborough’s understudy. So far, no word on Attenborough’s condition.

• Billy Joel – He & wife Alexis welcomed a baby girl named Della Rose in August and it’s now been revealed that the baby’s godfather is New York governor Andrew Cuomo.
• Eurythmics – Former frontman Dave Stewart is set to reveal all about his partnership with Annie Lennox and stories about some of his famous friends in a new memoir. “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This: A Life in Music” is being published in February.
• Mark Ronson/f Bruno Mars – In the UK “Uptown Funk” is back on the Top 40 singles chart. It first charted in December last year and is already the 5th biggest single in UK history.
• Mötley Crüe – A new round of dates for their farewell tour beings tonight in Hidalgo TX. Additional gigs are slotted through October 18th and then December 4th-to-27th. The tour culminates with a 3-night stand at LA’s Staples Center December 28th, 30th, and 31st.
• Nick Jonas – In a new interview he says he felt “washed up at 21” after he and his older brothers dissolved their immensely popular boy band 2 years ago.
• Nicki Minaj – She’s set to exec produce and appear in a new scripted comedy for ABC Family based on her life growing up in Queens NY in the 1990s. Minaj studied acting at Manhattan’s LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts before launching her music career.
• Taylor Swift – Her “1989 World Tour” played Toronto’s Rogers Centre on the weekend. Friday night she screamed “Blue Jays! Blue Jays!” while singing “Blank Space” and it was recorded and sampled throughout the song. ESPN has noted that the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals, and San Diego Padres have all fallen on hard times since Swift played their baseball stadiums. Toronto’s Blue Jays open the playoffs Thursday at Rogers Centre.
• The Who – They’ve announced rescheduled dates for their “The Who Hits 50!” tour which were postponed earlier this month to allow Roger Daltrey to recover from viral meningitis. The new dates kick off February 27th in Detroit MI and wrap May 29th in Las Vegas NV.

A University of London research team has collected and analyzed some 235 million tweets in order to find out if tweeting while sitting down at a computer differs from tweeting from a phone. A sampling of the findings …
✓ Tweets from mobile phones are more egocentric in language than those generated from computers, perhaps because the personal nature of mobile devices primes people to think in self-involved terms.
✓ Web tweeting is more deliberate in style, and less likely to produce tweets simply reflecting how a user feels at a particular moment. It’s therefore more likely that non-self-related topics may creep into the content.
✓ Negative language is used more frequently in tweets by phone users. That may be because phone tweets are more likely to be sparked by in-the-moment sentiments, which, due to humans’ well-known ‘negativity bias’, are more likely to be negative than positive.
(As for why Twitter inevitably turns us all into jerks, that pressing research question will have to wait for another day.)
