Touch Your Screen – This BS Is Still Warm!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Today incarcerated couple Randy & Evi Quaid are scheduled for a Canadian immigration hearing in Vancouver to determine if they qualify as refugees, due to a ‘well-founded fear of persecution in their home country’ (they’ve reportedly been claiming the same Hollywood cult that killed actor Heath Ledger is now out to get them) . . . The cast of “Glee” (FOX) is releasing a Christmas album November 16th (have we reached overkill yet?) . . . 39-year-old ex-“American Idol” judge Kara Dio Guardi has a new gig as head judge on a new Bravo singing/songwriting contest, “Going Platinum”, which will be hosted by singer Jewel beginning next year (how long do you give it?) . . . “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria is being sued for negligence by a driver who claims he’s endured ‘mental & physical suffering’ after she swerved out of control in her BMW X5 on Hollywood Blvd and slammed into his BMW X5 (maybe the cars were trying to mate?) . . . “Twilight Saga” actor Robert Pattinson tells the new issue of “OK!” his fame frequently makes him paranoid and he’s unable to go out and do anything socially because he’s always hounded (beware of what you wish for!) . . . “Glee” star Jane Lynch is on the cover of today’s edition of “More” and reveals inside that she was originally only signed for 4 episodes of the hit series because she had commitments to other shows (can you imagine “Glee” without ‘Sue Sylvester’?) . . . 54-year-old actor Mel Gibson has reportedly decided he can no longer ‘bury his head in the sand’ and is looking to do a TV interview to give his side of the story regarding his recent troubles (make it with Jon Stewart – please!) . . . “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart has been voted 2010’s ‘Most Influential Guy’ in the AskMen.com annual poll (those who’ve fallen off the list from last year include Ashton Kutcher, Robert Pattinson, Tiger Woods) . . . Actor Will Smith’s singing prodigy Willow Smith (“Whip My Hair”) has revealed that on Halloween (when she turns 10) she’ll be dressing up as – herself (someone isn’t suffering from poor self-image) . . . And a rep for 45-year-old Charlie Sheen says the “Two-and-a-Half Men” actor is now back home in LA and attempting to ‘move on’ since undergoing psychiatric evaluation after trashing a Plaza suite in NYC Tuesday morning due to – quote – ‘an adverse allergic reaction to medication’ (uh, did the allergy  cause him to hire a hooker as well?).

TODAY’S SHOW BIZ SKED:
• “Ellen DeGeneres Show” (syndicated/A Channel) – Sugarland (“The Incredible Machine”).
• “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC/CityTV) – Atomic Tom (“The Moment”).
• “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” (NBC/A Channel) – GWAR (“Bloody Pit of Horror”).
• “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS/Omni) – Kid Cudi (“Man On the Moon 2: The Legend of Mr Rager”, out November 9th).
• “Live With Regis & Kelly” (syndicated/CTV) – Seal (“Commitment”).
• “Lopez Tonight” (TBS) – All Star Weekend (“Suddenly Yours”).
• “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC/A Channel) –  Corinne Bailey Rae (“The Sea”).

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Akon – He’s been banned from performing at “Summerbeatz 2010” in Melbourne, Australia November 25th because his 2009 concert there was marred by a brawl in which dozens were injured.
• Christina Aguilera – Rumor has it Xtina is already rebounding from the downfall of her 5-year marriage with none other than BFF Nicole Richie’s brother-in-law, Benji Madden of pop-rock band Good Charlotte.
• Elton John – Tonight he kicks off BBC Radio 2’s annual music festival “Electric Proms” at London’s Roundhouse, promising ‘very special guests’, including legendary singer/songwriter Leon Russell (“The Union”).
• Garth Brooks – He’s scheduled a press conference for today in Nashville, at which he’ll be joined by Tennessee governor Phil Bredesen, Nashville mayor Karl Dean and US senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker. (Garth’s making a late run for office? Naw.)
• Lil Wayne – A prison guard has been suspended over allegations he made an unscheduled 45-minute visit to the rapper’s ‘isolation’ cell at NYC’s Rikers Island jail.
• Madonna – She’s starting up a chain of gyms called Hard Candy Fitness, the first to open in Mexico City November 29th. 10 additional clubs are in the planning stages. (In case you want icky arms like Madonna.)
• Mariah Carey – An insider confirms she’s 4-months-pregnant with a baby boy and will officially make the announcement soon on “Oprah” and “The View”. (Likely just in time for her next album release, “Playlist: The Very Best of Mariah Carey”.)
• Michael Jackson – Father Joe Jackson’s bid to challenge the administration of his late son’s will has been rejected in court. (Maybe because they’ve managed to generate another $275 million since he died?)
• Taylor Swift – The new “Us Weekly” claims she & actor Jake Gyllenhaal have been spotted at Fishkill Farms in Hopewell Junction NY, where they went … apple-picking. (Smells like a BS publicity stunt, no?)

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “Avatar 2 & 3” – Filmmaker James Cameron has inked a deal to create two sequels to the highest-grossing film of all-time (circa $2.8 billion). The 2 pics will become his next projects. A December 2014 release is being eyed for “Avatar 2”, with the three-quel to follow in December 2015. Cameron will begin working on the scripts for the films early next year.
• “Mr Popper’s Penguins” – 85-year-old acting vet Angela Lansbury will co-star with Jim Carrey in this upcoming comedy based on the popular children’s book. Carrey will play the high-powered, NYC businessman who suddenly inherits 6 penguins. The pic has already gone into production and is set to open next August 12th.
• “Pirates Of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” – Disney is said to be considering cutting rocker Keith Richards from the upcoming 4th instalment of the series because he’s admitted to doing drugs in his new memoir “Life”. Doesn’t make much sense since he already appeared in “Pirates Of the Caribbean: At World’s End” (2007). The new flick opens May 20, 2011.
• “Tower Heist” – Casey Affleck & Matthew Broderick have just been added to the cast of this action-comedy that already includes Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Gabourey Sidibe, and Michael Pena. The movie tells the story of the overworked manager of a tower condo residence (Stiller), who leads a team in a heist of its penthouse tenant.

(Mom warned you!)

BS VAMPIRE FACTS:
• Greek Christianity has been credited by many as the origin of the vampire belief.
• In Diesdorf, Germany it is believed that if money is not placed in the mouth of a dead person at burial, he will become a ‘Nachzehrer’ (vampire) and his ghost will rise from the grave in the form of a pig.
• In ancient times, baths of human blood were prescribed as a remedy for leprosy.
• In addition to the wooden stake through the heart, another preventive measure is to break the neck of the dead body.
– “The Book of Vampires”

TAKE THE SCENIC ROUTE:
A Texas A & M University study has found that people who commute along scenic routes recover more quickly from stressful driving conditions than those who are exposed to busy roads lined with billboards, buildings, and parking lots. What’s even more interesting – it seems to have a lasting effect. Drivers who take scenic routes respond more calmly to stressful conditions later in the day. (Only problem is, going to work by the scenic route takes 4 hours.)
