Ah, Some BS to Look Forward to In the Morning!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Gisele Bündchen still hasn’t patched things up with Tom Brady, despite her return to Florida from Costa Rica. According to a source quoted by PageSix, “Gisele isn’t back with Tom.”. Although she did return to Florida, it was to be with her kids, but she “hasn’t been to their home in Tampa.” The insider claims that Brady is still hoping for a reconciliation, and Bündchen, who is believed to be staying in Miami, “has told him she’s leaving him before, and they always made up when she cooled down.” Last week, it was reported that the 42-year-old supermodel had jetted to their home in the Central American country after an “epic fight” with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB.

★ Kim Kardashian has nothing but nice things to say about Pete Davidson about a month after their breakup. The reality star made the cover of Interview Magazine this week and in an interview, she called Davidson “literally such a good person”. Kardashian said, quote: “They don’t really make them like him anymore. I’m excited for what he has coming up”. She didn’t say much more about the breakup, except to hint that she’s not in a rush to find her next romance. When asked what she wants most in life right now, she said: “Maybe a little bit more sleep? Maybe kids that I don’t have to…bribe with Pokémon cards…Time?”

★ Whoopi Goldberg wasted no time on the season premiere of “The View,” hitting back at the racist criticism of HBO’s “House of the Dragon” and Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” With the 2 new fantasy series becoming hits, some fans — or wannabe critics — have been claiming the creators were “too woke” in adding diverse characters. Goldberg responded to the discourse, starting with an acknowledgment that the worlds of the fantasy shows “are not real,” and “there are no dragons, there are no hobbits.” But she also asked: “Are you telling me black people can’t be fake people, too? I don’t know if there’s, like, a hobbit club, I don’t know if there are gonna be protests. But people: What is wrong with y’all?” Goldberg’s co-hosts agreed, all chiming in on the topic.

★ Fans of “Home Alone”, rejoice! The iconic Christmas movie is set to be played in theaters alongside a live orchestra this festive season. The beloved film stars Macaulay Culkin as 8-year-old ‘Kevin’, whose family goes on holiday for Christmas and accidentally leaves him behind. The 1990 classic was scored by John Williams, whose impressive repertoire also includes “Star Wars”, “Jaws”, “Indiana Jones”, and “Jurassic Park”. Williams’s work on the Home Alone soundtrack is as iconic as the traps Kevin sets, featuring old Christmas classics, like ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’, as well as original carols. Home Alone will be shown in theatres across the UK this December.

• BLACKPINK — is getting ready to crash the internet with the release of its second single from “Born Pink”. The group has announced ‘Shut Down’ will be released on Sept. 16, the same day the album drops. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4vws793z
• Pitbull – will kick off the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Festival, which takes place Sept. 23-24 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He’ll be joined by a slate of other main stage performers, including Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey, Nicki Minaj, Avril Lavigne, Morgan Wallen, Lionel Richie, Black Eyed Peas, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Sam Smith, The Black Keys, LL Cool J, and Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo.
• Britney Spears & Elton John – Britney’s back…on the charts. ‘Hold Me Closer’, her new duet with Elton John, has debuted at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s her 14th top 10 song and her first in nearly a decade. The reimagining of John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘The One’ also shot to #1 on iTunes in over 40 countries.
• AC/DC — singer Brian Johnson will detail his wild life and career in his upcoming memoir “The Lives of Brian,” hitting shelves Oct. 25. The book tells how the English-born screamer scrapped for years in the band Geordie, before joining the Australian rockers to replace the late Bon Scott, and making history with his first record with the group, “Back in Black”.
• Led Zeppelin — A bootleg trader has released lost footage of the group performing in LA in 1970, saying it was important to share fan recordings rather than hide them in personal collections. The band’s show at the Inglewood Forum was already immortalized in an audio recording known to fans as “On Blueberry Hill”. The restored footage is on YouTube. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/nw2updbt
• Luke Combs – A sweet moment during his show in Bangor, Maine was captured on video over the weekend, when Combs gave $140 to some young concertgoers who held up a sign saying that they stacked wood to pay for their tickets. He emptied his pockets of all his cash for the fans, one of whom was celebrating his 12th birthday. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2p8sndw9
• Eric Church – For Labor Day, Country Now asked him about his first-ever job. His answer: “I sold knives from midnight to 7 or 8am (on Shop at Home). And anytime somebody calls you at 3 or 4am and needs 200 knives for $19.95, it’s automatically an alarming situation…I knew they were drunk”. He said he was the worst salesman in history because he ended up “talking a lot of these people out of it.”
• Gabby Barrett — Fresh off her gig as opener for Jason Aldean, she plans to spend September working on her second album and “preparing…before going on maternity leave.” She’s expecting her second child with husband and fellow “American Idol” alum Cade Foehner.
SHOOTING THE BULL
SUBTRACTING ADS:
A Dutch city has become the first in the world to ban ads for meat as part of a plan to reduce greenhouse gases and fight climate change. The city, Haarlem, banned the advertisements in public spaces in an effort to drive down meat consumption, and thereby reduce carbon emissions. The Amsterdam suburb, with a population of 160,000, plans to enact the ban in 2024. The move is in response to recent studies that suggest global food production and consumption, particularly meat, accounts for about one-third of climate-warming greenhouse gases.
(So, if McDonald’s still has Big Mac billboards there after next year, I guess that answers THAT!)
(I guess the city will also have to change its slogan: “A great place to meat”!)

LOVE FINDINGS:
➢ Leaning your head to the right is the most natural way humans kiss, and there’s good reason, according to a recent study. UK scientists examined 48 married couples in Bangladesh, hoping to learn more about kissing tendencies in non-Western societies. Bangladeshis were chosen because they are barred from viewing kissing on TV or film, and thus aren’t influenced by societal factors. Two-thirds of Bangladeshi couples — whether they initiated or received the kiss — were found to turn their heads to the right while kissing. The researchers believe that one’s head tilt while kissing is in part determined by their predominant hand, explaining why a tilt to the right is most common. The tendency may go all the way back to one’s prenatal care, as babies have been observed tilting their head to the right in the womb. (It all depends on which cheek you want slapped first!)
➢ It probably won’t come as a surprise to women, but according to a new study, men think they’re funnier, and are happier in relationships if they’re led to believe they are superior in the comedy department. The study — titled “Do they fit together like the Joker and Harley Quinn?” — tried to understand how humor fits into long-term relationships. The researchers, from the University of Silesia in Poland, surveyed 149 heterosexual couples on the comedic aspects of their relationships. They found that men tell more jokes than women and think their jokes are funnier. The researchers concluded that a simple way to make your man happy is to let him think his jokes are better than yours. (And bring beer!)

UNIVERSALLY EXPENSIVE:
We all know that a trip to a theme park isn’t going to be cheap. Even so, a family of 4’s total for a visit to Universal Orlando Studios has shocked the internet. A TikTok video documenting how the one-day outing to the park in Florida cost more that $1,100 went viral over the weekend, generating more than 1.5 million views. British marketing expert Miranda Pearce flew with her husband and their 2 young sons to theme park. They paid $483.66 for tickets, plus an additional $396 for Fast passes, which allows visitors to skip the line at some rides. Add to that $62.79 for lunch; $42.60 for souvenirs; $36.39 for dinner; $27 to park; $21.79 for breakfast; $19.76 for ice cream: $19.16 for drinks; and $4.25 for coffee – for a total of $1,113. And, as Pearce wrote in her post, “That’s not even including tips”. She added a few emojis for emphasis. Commenters expressed their shock at the prices, with one writing that they “could have gone away to Portugal for a week and rented a villa for that.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4tkna2pj
(Well, THERE’S their first mistake…Never take your kids to a theme park!)
(…and it would have cost even MORE if they didn’t make their kids split lunch!)

NON-GROWN-UP PROBLEMS:
As children, we received countless warnings from parents and other adults concerning disastrous behaviors that should be avoided at all costs. From comical exaggerations to outright lies, here are some relatable tweets about the things adults conditioned us to worry about…
☞ “I can’t believe adults warned us about the dangers of quicksand and completely ignored telling us about how stressful it is paying rent”
☞ “I am 32 years old and still deeply terrified that consuming anything from the hotel room minibar will bankrupt my entire family somehow”
☞ “why did my mom make me think it was illegal to turn a light on in the car while we were driving throughout my whole childhood”
☞ “Did anyone else’s parents tell them that if you sit too close to the TV you’ll go blind?”
☞ “Growing up I thought I’d be getting sprayed by a lot more skunks by the way adults warned us about them.”
☞ “Did your parents tell you the black seeds in watermelon would grow a watermelon in your stomach too or are you normal?”
☞ “did your parents tell you that you’d get a cold if you went to sleep with your hair wet or are you normal?”
☞ “Was anybody else raised to believe that if you take a shower during a thunderstorm, you’ll probably die via lightning strike?”
☞ “Did anybody else’s parents every tell them not to swim after eating because of cramps?? Did you know that’s false? Did you know we were raised by liars!?!?”
☞ “Remember when we were kids they used to talk about our “permanent record” LMFAO I was TERRIFIED”
(OK, listeners, what have you got?)

DID YOU KNOW?
A run-in with the law apparently isn’t the career-killer it once was, according to researchers from Harvard Business School. Researchers there report many American employers are willing to consider and hire applicants with a criminal record. An analysis found 39% of businesses are willing to hire someone with a criminal background. Meanwhile, 45% of businesses are open to hiring such employees for jobs that do not involve directly interacting with customers. (I know my insurance company is run by criminals!)

• “International Literacy Day”, established by the UN in 1967 to promote reading & writing programs. Worldwide, 1-in-5 adults are illiterate, and 75 million children are not in school. • “Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses Day”, honoring the special RNs who are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to patients with cancer and blood disorders.
• “Pardon Day”, a day to seek forgiveness where needed. (My favorite word is “pardon”. It’s a problem when people ask me what my favorite word is…)
• “Star Trek Day”, the first episode of the original TV Series aired on September 8, 1966. Star Trek was first seen in Canada on the 6th — 2 days before the US got to see it.
• “Actors Day”, take part in your local theater, whether it’s a high school, college, or a youth theater in your community. If you’re not much for acting, support your local theater by donating money, theater props, or buying tickets to see your favorite plays. (The fact that Actors Day takes place the same day that William Shatner debuted in “Star Trek” is purely coincidental!)
