It’s Another Running Of The Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Dog The Bounty Hunter has been diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition, just three months after losing his wife Beth Chapman to throat cancer. On today’s episode of “The Dr. Oz Show”, the 66-year-old learns he has a pulmonary embolism, which occurs when one or more arteries of the heart have been blocked by blood. He’s currently on blood thinners and is eating healthier while working to quit smoking.

★ Mike Tyson is taking his successful cannabis business to the Caribbean after landing a deal to help boost tourism in the country of Antigua and Barbuda. The country is still feeling the devastation from Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, and relies on money brought in from tourism to help rebuild communities and support the citizens. Another idea that has been discussed is building a full-scale hotel/resort based on the Tyson Ranch brand and business model.

★ Spider-Man will remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In August, it was revealed that the superhero would be leaving the MCU after Sony and Disney failed to reach an agreement over the future of the franchise. Now, the two companies have managed to work out a deal which will see Kevin Feige produce one more “Spider-Man” movie, while the character will also appear in a future Marvel film.
-ContactMusic
★ Stan Lee’s daughter J.C. has filed suit in California against POW! Entertainment, claiming that executives at the company exploited the legendary filmmaker’s deteriorating health. She argues that they induced him “to sign documents under fraudulent pretenses or forging his signature.” In the complaint, J.C asserts that their methods enabled them “to loot the assets of Stan Lee Entertainment.”

★ “Superstore” actress Linda Porter has died at age 86. Porter has portrayed ‘Myrtle’ on the NBC workplace comedy since its first season. The character was laid off from the Cloud 9 big box store in Season 3, but continued to recur throughout much of Season 4, most recently in the season finale earlier this year. She made numerous guest appearances on other shows, including “American Horror Story,” “The Mindy Project” and “2 Broke Girls.” She also had a recurring role on “Gilmore Girls.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Jennifer Lopez — Almost immediately after she and Shakira announced they were co-headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, fans started buzzing that Pitbull is a MUST-HAVE guest. Now, negotiations are apparently underway for him to make a cameo appearance.
• Justin and Hailey Bieber — have reportedly upset guests at the South Carolina hotel where they are holding their wedding today. The pair are set to walk down the aisle for a second time, at the Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton. Reportedly, other guests suffered major disruptions over the weekend, as a spa, a pool and a gourmet restaurant were closed to facilitate the celebrity nuptials.
• Lil Nas X — Fiona Apple has accused him of withholding cash he owes her for sampling a track without permission. She claims Nas profited from her 2012 song ‘Every Single Night’ by mixing the tune into his 2018 song ‘Kim Jung’.
• Spice Girls — Mel B has been sued by her former hairstylist. Gary Madatyan claims the singer used his name on prescriptions to obtain drugs and fired him when he complained. He says a doctor “prescribed amphetamine salts using (his) name which he did not authorize or consent to.”
• Metallica — frontman James Hetfield is going back to rehab … and as a result, the group has canceled a tour through Australia and New Zealand. The band says all tickets from the tour will be refunded, and they’re working to reschedule shows. Hetfield’s last stint in rehab was in 2001.
• Nirvana – Their “Unplugged in New York” album will be reissued on vinyl November 1, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of its 1994 release. Expanded to include five rehearsal performances previously only available on DVD, it will also feature an exclusive gatefold jacket with silver foil detail on the front and back cover.
• The Who and Aerosmith — both called off shows as a result of Roger Daltrey and Steven Tyler losing their voices. The Who, who had to give up on a Moving On! orchestral performance in Houston after Daltrey’s voice gave up around 45 minutes in, also canceled appearances in Dallas and Denver. Aerosmith was forced to cancel Thursday’s Las Vegas residency appearance.
• Keith Urban – will headline the 107th Grey Cup Halftime Show. The CFL championship game is set for Nov. 24 at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium. Recent performers for the gig have included Alessia Cara, Shania Twain and OneRepublic.
• Carrie Underwood — celebrated the 15th anniversary of her “American Idol” audition during her sold-out concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday night. She took a few moments to share an inspirational message about how childhood dreams sometimes come true. Underwood’s career took off after being crowned the winner of American Idol in 2005.

FEEL THE BURN…OUT:
If you work out, you’ve probably heard horror stories about ‘overtraining’. That’s when you work out too hard, and overload your muscles. Now, scientists say they’ve discovered another, unexpected result of overtraining. It can lead to mental burnout. The study, published in “Current Biology”, found that overtraining can negatively affect decision making. People with training overload were found to be more likely to seek immediate rewards for specific tasks and were less future-oriented – an example of this might be that an athlete may be more likely to consider doping because of the immediate benefits, rather than considering the long-term consequences.
(Overtraining? There’s ONE thing that I don’t have to worry about!)
(My brain gets overloaded just THINKING about working out!)
(That’s too bad, because I really enjoy working out hard on ‘leg day’. It’s the two days after that I can’t stand!)

WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOATY MCBOATFACE:
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge officially bestowed the name “Sir David Attenborough” upon the British research ship that was named “Boaty McBoatface” by the public. The “fun” name was the most popular suggestion in an online poll that went viral in 2016. The government eventually decided to name the icebreaker after the naturalist and broadcaster Attenborough, and give the “McBoatface” name to a small underwater vehicle used to collect data, which serves as part of the ship’s research equipment. The ceremony to formally name the Sir David Attenborough took place at a shipyard in Birkenhead, northwest England, where the giant ice-breaker was built. The best line of the official ceremony definitely goes to Prince William, who said, while inviting the 93-year-old naturist to the stage, “It is my immense privilege and relief to welcome Sir David Attenborough, rather than Boaty McBoatface, to speak.”
(I don’t care what they call it, as long as it can floaty mcfloatface!)
(Aaaaand that’s probably the last time they invite the public to name a ship!)
(Looks like they gave in to pier pressure!)

TELL ME HOW TO GET…SESAME STREET:
Finally! LEGO will be making a “Sesame Street” set! A new miniature version of Sesame Street is in the works after about 10,000 people voted for the company to create one. The Sesame Street Lego set will include a miniature Bert, Big Bird, Elmo and the Count in a New York City-style walk-up building and street scene, similar to that seen on the TV show. The set is part of a program called “LEGO Ideas”, where fans can submit their dream designs. Lego picked the top 10 pitches for development. Also selected: A playable piano, “The Office” TV show, and Peru’s Manch Picchu. No word on when the sets will come out.
(But Christmas is coming…)
(How can you have Bert without Ernie?)
(Mr. Snuffleupagus is there too, but only Big Bird can see him!)

• “International Blasphemy Day”, which encourages individuals and groups to openly express criticism of religion, and blasphemy laws. It was founded in 2009 by the Center for Inquiry.

• “International Translation Day”, introduced in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators. Online translators allow you to switch from language-to-language instantly. Try translating an English message to another language then back to English. Odds are you’ll get something that’s really wonky.
