BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Amy Schumer is on the mend after undergoing surgery for endometriosis. She detailed the removal of her uterus and appendix on Instagram in a video taken by her husband Chris Fischer, as she recovered in hospital on Saturday. This isn’t the first time Schumer has gotten candid about endometriosis pain and her fertility. In August 2020, she discussed the risks of trying to have a second baby on “Sunday Today”, telling Willie Geist that the IVF procedure she underwent to conceive her son Gene “was really tough”, and “I decided that I can’t be pregnant ever again.” She added that she and Fisher were considering a surrogate, but decided to “hold off for right now”.

★ Real estate scion Robert Durst, who was featured in the HBO documentary “The Jinx,” was found guilty of first-degree murder by a Los Angeles jury on Friday. He was charged with murder for the 2000 shooting death of his friend and confidant Susan Berman. During the lengthy trial — which was suspended in spring 2020 for more than a year due to the pandemic — prosecutors argued that Durst killed Berman to prevent her from implicating him in the 1982 disappearance of his first wife, Kathleen McCormack. Durst will be sentenced Oct. 18.

★ Netflix has announced “2021’s hottest new show”. It’s a sitcom about…nothing. In its cute new trailer for “Seinfeld” it then goes on to admit that the show is really only new to the streaming service. The clip informs viewers that the show was created by “rising stars Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld,” and features lots of fan-favorite moments, beginning with Jerry’s “Oh, hello.” In a press release, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos carried the joke one step further, saying: “Jerry has created something special with this sitcom that nobody has ever done. I truly think he and Mr. David have enormous futures ahead of them and I’m thrilled Netflix could be the home for them to grow their fanbases.” All 180 episodes of the beloved sitcom will hit the platform on October 1st. ★ Sharon Stone made a waiter’s night last week by leaving a $600 US tip after dining at Balthazar in New York. She stopped off at the by the fabled French brasserie for a bite after attending the premiere of Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield’s new film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, and she stunned staff by adding the hefty gratuity to her $250 bill, prompting the eatery’s owner, Keith McNally, to break a long-held policy regarding the privacy of his many famous patrons.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lil Nas X – Friday, he released the long-awaited “Montero” record, and to mark the occasion, he filmed a promo video that show’s him giving birth to the album. It shows him being rushed into hospital as his water breaks, before he delivers his new record with the help of 2 doctors. Afterward, he’s seen lovingly caressing a copy of Montero as he sits in a hospital bed. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/c7mabpa6
• Lady Gaga – Her former dog walker, who was shot during a dognapping in Feb., says that despite her kindness during his recovery process, he set up a GoFundMe page because he wants to do it himself. He told CBS Mornings: “She’s helped me so much…my family was flown out. I had trauma therapists flown out to me, and I stayed at her house for months…and security was around me.”
• Grimes – says her 16-month-old son with Elon Musk calls her “Claire” (her real name). She spoke about her attitude toward motherhood and her relationship with her baby, who she refers to as “X”. She says that having a baby was an artistic rebirth for her, but “Being a mother feels weird to say, for some reason. I don’t identify with that word.”
• Queen — Brian May says the group didn’t rehearse their iconic hit ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. He revealed the 1975 song was practically cut straight to tape because he and his bandmates were so “in sync” with one another.
• Genesis — Phil Collins says that the group will cease to exist after December 16, when they play the final show of their “The Last Domino?” tour in Boston. Quote: “This English and American tour, that will be enough for me.”
• Iron Maiden – Has charted its best-ever album debut in its 45-year-history – thanks to CDs. While Kanye West and Drake drew most of the attention in a chart battle between “Donda” and “Certified Lover Boy”, Maiden’s “Senjutsu” got to #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. And nearly 90% Senjutsu’s sales came from physical album sales, by far the highest percentage of pure album sales on the chart.
• Carly Pearce — not only released her new album “29: Written in Stone” on Friday, she also announced an 8-date headlining US tour beginning Nov. 4 in Des Moines IA. Andrew Jannakos will open.
• Chris Young — is a 3-time CMA Award nominee. His song ‘Famous Friends’ with Kane Brown racked up nominations in the categories of Single, Musical Event, and Video of the Year. The 55th Annual CMA Awards will be handed out in Nashville on November 10.

SHOOTING THE BULL

THIS BATHROOM’S ‘BUGGED’:
A disgusting bathroom is enough to make anybody squirm, but which spot is the dirtiest? According to a new study, it’s not the toilet and it’s not the sink. The study, conducted by electric heating specialists Rointe, found the filthiest area in terms of bacteria and grime is either a bathroom radiator or towel rail. And worse, the researchers also found these common spots where towels are hung to dry are rarely cleaned when scrubbing the bathroom. To find their results, scientists swabbed entire bathrooms for bacteria. Using swabs to measure bacteria levels, they discovered that 60% of towel rails and radiators were in the “really dirty” category. Another 10% fell into the “dirty” category. For comparison, just 10% of toilets were found to be “really dirty” and 20% of toilets were actually found to be “clean”. Showerheads and sink taps are the cleanest items in the typical bathroom. Towel racks and radiators tend to attract dust, grime, mold, and mildew. All of this can lead to irritated skin and even illness for people who don’t thoroughly clean these bacteria breeding grounds.
(I have teenagers. Trust me, the dirtiest spot in my bathroom is NOT the place where I hang my towels.)
(I’ll let my wife thank me later that I help keep that part of the bathroom germ-free by leaving my wet towel on the bed every morning…)
(Phew! I’m sure glad it’s the towel RACK that’s dirty, and not my towel!)

RANDOM ACTS OF LOCH NESS:
The 14th ‘quote-unquote’ “official” sighting of the Loch Ness monster in 2021 has been reported, surpassing last year’s mark with almost 3½ months to go. Last year, there were 13 reported sightings of the creature from Spanish folklore that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often described as large, long-necked, and with one or more humps protruding from the water. And the latest Nessie sighting came from a place 5,300 miles away from the loch. Weiming Jiang of China registered an official sighting of the Loch Ness Monster, after witnessing on the loch’s webcam: “at first there was only one black dot, and then two black dots appeared, very close to the shore” which moved on the water for 6 minutes. In all, there have been a grand total of 1,143 Loch Ness Monster sightings recorded since records have been officially kept, according to the official Loch Ness Sightings Register.
(Sounds like a reputable news source…)
(Why do you suppose there have been so many sightings lately? Nothing to do with those stats we’ve seen about people drinking more during the pandemic, huh?)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ Harvey Sutton is only 5, but he’s already completed something many adults only dream of — he hiked the full length of the Appalachian Trail. Along with his mom and dad, Harvey spent 209 days on the 2,100-mile (3380km) trail, through 14 states. The Virginia resident was 4 years old when his family started their adventure in Georgia, and turned 5 in August when they arrived in Maine. The Suttons usually woke up at 6 a.m. to pack up their tents and get moving, and traveled 13-15 miles (21-24km) a day. Together, they walked through heavy snow, steady rain, and extreme winds. Harvey’s secret energy source? Sprinkling Skittles onto peanut butter tortillas. (I wouldn’t be so sure. I do that all the time, and I’m still glued to my couch after 6pm!)
➢ Lawrence Brooks, the oldest known living World War II veteran, has just turned 112. He celebrated his birthday with a socially distanced, drive-by celebration at his home in New Orleans. He was honored with a Jeep parade, cake, and performances from the National WWII Museum’s “Victory Belles” and other musicians. Brooks served in the predominantly African American 91st Engineer Battalion, which was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines during the war. (There are old soldiers and there are bold soldiers, but there are very few old, bold soldiers….)

DID YOU KNOW?
Drag culture’s far-reaching influence on society was affirmed last week, when Australian entomologists announced they have named a fly species after RuPaul — the titan of drag queens. The soldier fly, whose Latin name is Opaluma rupaul, is adorned with bold rainbow colors and is bound to catch the attention of anyone that comes across it — much like RuPaul herself.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Gibberish Day”, highlighting the uselessness of the convoluted terminology and gobbledy-gook spouted by those who are masking their lack of knowledge and expertise or who are just too spineless to make a clear statement. (Try this ‘Gibberish Generator’:  https://tinyurl.com/3avusmme

• “Punch Day”, the word ‘punch’ is said to come from the Hindustani word ‘panch’, which means ‘five’. In the early 1600s, sailors and employees of the British East India Company brought a new exotic drink from India to England. The beverage was made from spirits, lemon, sugar, water, and tea.

• “Cheese String Day”, perhaps the most enjoyable part of String Cheese is deciding how to eat it. Most people go for the classic “peel down and chow down” method—separating each stick into thin strands. Or just chomp off a chunk, as if it were regular cheese… (Which do you call it: ‘Cheese String’ or ‘String Cheese’?)

• “Pepperoni Pizza Day”, a day to celebrate America’s favorite variety of pizza. Here is some interesting trivia on the ever-popular pizza:
⇒ The first pizza was sold in Naples Italy in 1738.
⇒ Pizzas most likely evolved as a variation of flatbreads.
⇒ Pepperoni is the most popular, preferred by 36% of people (and 100% of children at a birthday party).
⇒ Over 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. each year.
⇒ More pizzas are sold on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year.
⇒ Halloween is the second most popular day for eating pizza.
⇒ Over 17% of restaurants are pizzerias, or serve pizza.
⇒ Americans consume over 23 pounds of pizza per person per year.
