BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Great news for Taylor Swift fans worldwide — and really, who isn’t a Taylor Swift fan? She and AMC Theatres have announced that the “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour” concert film will open in more than 100 countries worldwide on Oct. 13, the same day previously announced for the its North American debut. Tickets in most of those countries are already on sale. Same as North American release, the film’s international rollout will be handled by AMC. The company said the worldwide expansion will include the movie playing at every Odeon venue in Europe, and it is “taking steps to reach agreements with additional cinema operators throughout the world.” AMC expects the number of theaters playing the film to surpass 7,500 worldwide.

★ Say hello to Baby Rocky? On Sunday, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker threw an elaborate, Disney-themed baby shower for their expected child, and someone may have revealed the kid’s name. In social media posts from the party, several people shared photos of an apple tree named “The Wishing Tree,” on which guests hung messages for the new baby. When fans zoomed in on the messages, they discovered that one of the cards read, “May Baby Rocky have the most … life filled with love, happiness…” Barker has teased in the past that they may like to name their child Rocky.

★ Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have come to an agreement to have their daughters remain in New York as they continue to hash out their bitter divorce battle. The estranged couple signed an interim order that prohibits both of them from removing their kids from the state. They’re scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference on Oct. 3. The temporary ceasefire comes days after Turner sued Jonas to return their daughters to England, where she claimed they decided to raise their kids permanently.

★ It could be that we’re all headed back to “The Office”. A decade after the hit mockumentary sitcom came to an end, and following years of revival rumors, a reboot of The Office is reportedly in the works, with original showrunner Greg Daniels set to return. Although it hasn’t been announced, a Puck News report said it will be among a number of projects that will be announced once the Writers Guild of America strike ends. A “tentative agreement” was announced on Sunday night. It is unclear if any of the original cast members would return for the reboot.

★ “Saturday Night Live” is expected to get in pretty much a full season after the writers and the studios reached an agreement to end the strike. The NBC show had Season 48 cut short by 3 episodes when writers walked out at the beginning of May. Now, it’s being reported that SNL which traditionally restarts at the end of September or beginning of October, is now likely to return either October 7 or 14, pending a vote by the WGA.

★ 007’s iconic name was almost completely different, says a new book. According to “Ian Fleming: The Complete Man,” MI6 superspy ‘James Bond’ was nearly called ‘Rodney’. That surprising revelation was discovered in author Ian Fleming’s old papers that the book’s writer Nicholas Shakespeare was given access to. Rodney Bond, it turns out, was a real person who saved the life of Fleming’s brother Peter in 1941. (“Bond, Rodney Bond”?)

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Miley Cyrus – has gone full brunette, as evidenced by some pics she posted on Insta. It’s a stark change from the bleached blonde and dark brown look she sported at the start of the “Endless Summer Vacation” era. (Has the Endless Summer Vacation ended?) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdeuucdb
• SZA – appears 2 times in the top 3 of the current Billboard Hot 100: She’s at #1 with Drake for ‘Slime You Out’, and #3 with her own single ‘Snooze’, boosted by a new remix with Justin Bieber.
• Nirvana – bassist Krist Novoselic said “You never know!” when it was suggested to him that one day, the group could be reunited on stage as avatars, in a similar style to ABBA’s Voyage shows. He followed that comment with: “I’ll say ‘no way’, then it’s like, ‘How much?? When do we start?!’”
• Queen – Brian May, who is also an astrophysicist, recently helped NASA return its first ever asteroid sample to Earth. He said he is “immensely proud” to be part of the team that collected the sample from the Bennu. May created stereoscopic images from the spacecraft’s data that made it possible to locate a safe site to land and collect a sample. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdhs6mb9
• Journey — has announced dates for its 50th Anniversary Freedom Tour 2024, featuring special guest Toto. The groups will hit 30 North American cities, beginning Feb. 9 in Biloxi MS, and ending April 29 in Bridgeport CT. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
• Kane Brown – can’t wait to perform his new single ‘I Can Feel It’ live. The song uses the famous drum fill and chorus from Phil Collins’ 1981 hit ‘In The Air Tonight’. What inspired that? It “came after we were trying to find somebody to perform with me at Stagecoach. Phil Collins was one of the people we wanted, and after we were in Canada, we wrote this song.” He “immediately” fell in love with it.
• Parmalee — has dropped their new album “For You 2”. It is an expanded collection of 2021’s “For You”, with 5 new songs, including the current single ‘Girl In Mine’, which is at #4 on the charts and rising.
• Jelly Roll, Luke Combs and Blake Shelton — are some of the stars who’ll make an appearance on Craig Morgan’s upcoming EP “Enlisted”, out Oct. 20. The 6-song collection will find Morgan re-imagining hits like ‘Redneck Yacht Club’ and ‘That’s What I Love About Sunday’ as duets with some of his country music friend. Also appearing are Gary LeVox, Lainey Wilson, and Trace Adkins.
SHOOTING THE BULL
HELLA-TAXI:
A new Ohio factory has been announced, which will produce electric air taxis, capable of carrying 5 people. Joby Aviation will be capable of delivering up to 500 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft per year from the new facility in Dayton, the birthplace of aviation. The Wright Brothers opened the first American airplane factory there in 1910. Joby’s production aircraft is designed to transport a pilot, plus 4 passengers at speeds of up to 200mph (322kph), with a maximum range of 100 miles and a “revolutionary quiet noise profile” that they say is barely audible against the backdrop of cities. The company plans to redefine urban transportation by operating the aircraft as part of aerial ride-sharing networks around the world, starting in 2025, using partnerships with Delta and Uber.
(Have you ever been stuck in an Uber with a driver who creeped you out? Now imagine that feeling, except you’re 500 feet in the air, and 100 miles from your destination…in a lightning storm!)
(Sounds great. I bet the company got some pretty sweet “taxi-incentives” to locate there!)

TECH TALK:
➢ Tinder is attempting to swipe $499 per month from its most active users with an expensive new subscription service called “Tinder Select”. Members who sign on will have access to “VIP” search, matching, and conversation features that aren’t provided with current plans. The company says the service will be aimed at “a subset of highly engaged and active users who prioritize more effective and efficient ways to find connections.” (So, like…the ones who are desperate enough to spend $6,000 a year?)
➢ An etiquette expert says that, like anything, the accepted norms of using a phone are changing. As a result, according to Lizzie Post, of the Emily Post Institute, these days, you should always text before calling someone…and NEVER leave a voicemail, unless it’s for business – or for someone who really wants to hear your voice, like Grandma. Why text someone first? Calling someone without warning can feel stressful to the recipient. This is doubly important for video calls. Catching someone on video at an unexpected time can be embarrassing for all involved. (Well, it’s their fault for answering, then!)

WISHY-WASHY DISWASHERS:
It’s the eternal household battle. Well, one of them, at least: Should you rinse the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher? Well, if popular opinion is the barometer, the answer is…yes. According to a survey commissioned by energy experts Utilita, 62% of dishwasher owners admit to washing their items before putting them in the machine. The problem, the company says, is that this leads to a staggering 95 million liters of cold water being poured down the sink every single day, totaling 7.6 billion gallons annually. 59% say they pre-rinse dishes because they think it prevents long-term machine issues. However, 53% of those who DON’T pre-rinse counter this by arguing that dishwashers are designed to wash dishes thoroughly, making the step unnecessary. 42% said they only load their dishwasher when their dishes are “sparkling clean”, which, if nothing else, seems kind of odd. Utilita says people who rinse with hot water spend an average of $46.54 per year to do so, while those who use cold water spend about $13.70. Other reasons given for pre-rinsing dishes included: Wanting to keep the dishwasher clean, avoiding breaking the machine, Force of habit, and to avoid the dishwasher smelling.
(As far as I’m concerned, it’s called a ‘dishwasher’. That means it washes the dishes — and I shouldn’t have to!)
(I don’t have to pre-rinse the dishes. We have a dog for that…!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Most people are familiar with déjà vu, when we wrongly believe we have previously experienced a situation. But fewer are aware that there is an opposite to déjà vu. “Jamais vu”, is when something you know to be familiar — feels unreal or novel in some way. In recent research by University of St. Andrews, which recently won an Ig Nobel award for literature, it was explained that jamais vu may involve looking at a familiar face and finding it suddenly unusual or unknown. Or musicians have it momentarily – losing their way in a very familiar passage of music. You, too may have experienced it by going to a familiar place and becoming disoriented — or seeing it with “new eyes”.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Morning Show Hosts Day”, dedicated to watching and showing appreciation for hosts of morning TV shows. (But we’re going to be quiet about that, and just say that it’s all about RADIO morning show hosts…)
• “Ancestor Appreciation Day”, a day to learn about and appreciate one’s forebears. (Hey, without them, you wouldn’t be here!)
• “Day of Forgiveness”, because remember, forgiving someone is good for you: it relieves stress—from anger, resentment, and bitterness—and gives permission to heal and to stop living in the past.
• “Chocolate Milk Day”, something unheard of until the Van Houten company in Holland invented a cocoa pressing method in 1828. In 2006, a study determined that chocolate milk is a better post-workout recovery drink than white milk, water, or most sports drinks.
• “Corned Beef Hash Day”, Hash is a culinary term for a mixture of foods that have been finely chopped or diced. Corned beef hash is not only a delicious comfort food, it’s also easy to make. There are no rules regarding what to include, but diced potatoes and corned beef is pretty important.
• “World Tourism Day”, as declared by the UN’s World Tourism Organization. The 2023 theme: “Tourism & Green Investments” LINK: https://www.unwto.org/world-tourism-day-2023
• “Crush a Can Day”, to remind everyone to do their part in recycling. Here are some “canned facts”:
⇒ If you laid all the aluminum cans recycled in 2010 end to end, they would circle the earth 169 times.
⇒ In America, 105,800 cans are recycled every minute.
⇒ There is no limit to the amount of times an aluminum can, can be recycled.
⇒ Your television can run for 3 hours from the energy saved by recycling one can.
⇒ Aluminum cans are worth about a penny each.
⇒ More aluminum goes into beverage cans than any other product.
