Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ J.J. Abrams will step in as director of ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ after Colin Trevorrow parted ways with the project last week, Disney has announced. Abrams directed and produced “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in 2015. He is also serving as an executive producer on the upcoming film “The Last Jedi,” out this December. Abrams, who will also co-write ‘Episode IX’, recently produced ‘Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation’, ‘10 Cloverfield Lane’, and ‘Star Trek Beyond’.

★ Mark Hamill reports that he has a ”pretty nice” Beatles memorabilia collection. The ‘Star Wars’ legend, who played Luke Skywalker, and is expected to have a pivotal role in the upcoming instalment ‘The Last Jedi,’ says he is constantly approached by fans who want to tell him about their extensive collection of items from George Lucas’ universe. Hamill says he can understand the urge to collect because he has purchased countless items inspired by The Fab Four. He says of his collection: “That was my ‘Star Wars’.”
(George Lucas, George Martin…what’s the diff?)

★ Daniel Dae Kim is now set to play Major Ben Daimio in ‘Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen’. The Korean-American actor’s casting comes two weeks after Ed Skrein stepped down from the lead role in the reboot following outcry that the character was being ‘whitewashed.’ In Mike Mignola’s comic version of the movie, Daimio’s Asian-American heritage is a central point to the character’s backstory. Dae Kim, best known as Detective Chin Ho Kelly on CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 reboot, was born in South Korea.

★ Russell Brand hopes to be friends with his ex-wife Katy Perry at some point in the future, calling her an “extraordinary woman”. Brand and Perry split up in October 2012, just 14 months after they married. The reasons for the breakdown of their marriage were never revealed but Russell says the “very trivial” nature of their split makes him hopeful that they can get back onto good terms some day.
(Very trivial to YOU, Russell…)

★ When ‘The Walking Dead’ returns for its eighth season next month, fans will be expecting a huge shift of tone from season 7. That season saw a lot of criticism for being very dark and violent, but when it came to the finale, lines were drawn and the foundations were laid out for the infamous comic book story arc known as ‘All Out War’. ‘The Walking Dead’ returns on Sunday, October 22 in the US and Monday, October 23 in the UK.
(With a title like ‘All Out War’, I’ve got a feeling that it may still be fairly violent!)

★ Roger Moore’s daughter Deborah has revealed the Bond star’s heartbreaking final diary entries written just weeks before his death. She says while reading the diaries, she laughed at his naughty jokes, showbiz stories and self-deprecating anecdotes about becoming “an old fart”. But then she reached the final chapter and saw Moore’s heart-rending admission that he was scared of death, of joining his mates “in the great cutting room in the sky”. Just weeks after he wrote those lines, 007 legend Sir Roger Moore lost his short battle with cancer, at the age of 89.

• Lady Gaga – has urged Madonna to “push me up against a wall and kiss me” to quash their long-running feud. In her new biopic ‘Gaga: Five Foot Two’, she opens up about many aspects of her life, including her desire to put the rivalry with Madonna behind her.
• The Weeknd – he and his girlfriend Selena Gomez have reportedly moved in together. The pair, who started dating in January, are believed to be living together in a lavish apartment in New York City’s Greenwich Village.

The pair recently reported they’ve been writing together.
• Abba – Their Virtual Reality tour is shaping up to take place in 2019. The Swedish pop superstars split up in 1982 and have never reunited, but Benny Andersson has confirmed they’ll be back in digital form, at least.
• Mel B – has been accused of intimidating a witness who was prepared to testify against her in her bitter divorce war with Stephen Belafonte, and police have opened a felony investigation. Rapper Siya filed a police report Monday, claiming Mel B sent her texts last Saturday threatening her if Siya dared testify against her.
• Craig Morgan – the country star, Army veteran and television host can now add another title to his resume: business owner. He will soon open ‘Gallery at Morgan Farms’ in Dickson, Tenn. The store will sell “products from reclaimed, re-purposed, and recycled materials.” Morgan began work on the business as a way to deal with the death of his 19-year-old son, Jerry Greer, last year.
• Kenny Chesney – has launched the ‘Love for Love City Foundation’ to support Hurricane Irma disaster relief for the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. Chesney was not at his home in St. John when the hurricane devastated the region, but he did offer shelter to approximately 20 people and their pets to ride out the storm.
YES, I RED THAT:
The love lives of red-haired British men are being improved thanks to a phenomenon linked to a certain red-headed musician, a study has revealed. The ‘Ed Sheeran effect’ may be helping to turn around the love fortunes of long-suffering ginger men. A new poll reveals that red-headed men are getting more attention from women since Sheeran’s rise to superstardom. The research found that one in five men with red hair in the age group 25-34 have been getting more sexual attention from the opposite sex. Similarly, it was also found that a third of women polled said that their opinion of ginger males had improved since Sheeran’s rise to fame. Ginger men also report that they have been on the receiving end of fewer jokes about their hair color.
(It’s funny that Conan O’Brien never had that same effect!)
(That’s great and all, but red hair or not….is Ed a good lookin’ guy?)

A MEAL FIT FOR A PRINCE:
If you are more than a little sick of brown-bagging your lunch at work every day, or if the thought of the cafeteria menu or the vending machine just about turn your stomach, here is what you could be having…if you went to the same school as four year-old Prince George. At ‘Thomas’s Battersea’, where young George started school last week, you probably wouldn’t be able to find a chicken nugget anywhere. The school’s menu works in a three-week cycle that offers lighter or more filling choices depending on the weather, with meals organized by a dietician. Here is an example:
☼ Early in the school day, students enjoy a mid-morning snack, often consisting of a piece of fruit, organic milk or water and freshly baked fruit bread.
☼ A few hours later, children have the chance to create their own lunches. Not only is there a salad bar every day, but all the soups are freshly made. And when it comes to the main course, the menu lists lamb ragout with garlic and fresh herbs; turkey and ham pie topped with puff pastry; and a fresh-baked mozzarella, basil and tomato panini. Each meal is also balanced with a fruit, vegetable and pasta, rice or quinoa.
☼ A fish or vegetarian meal, like salmon with a salsa verde or a chick pea, spinach, and sweet potato curry, are always an option as well.
☼ When it comes to dessert, favorites include Portuguese egg custard tarts with strawberries, steamed jam and coconut sponge cake with organic custard, and oven-baked oatmeal and raisin cookies served with banana milkshakes. And fresh fruit platters and yogurt are always on-hand as alternatives.
(Didn’t his parents say they wanted his school life to be ‘as normal as possible’?)
(That beats the heck out of the apple bowl they passed around once a week at my school!)
(The good thing about this is that when they feed you at school, he’ll never get beaten up for his lunch money!)

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
✗ These thieves must have had quite a jolt when they discovered their ill-gotten bounty. Police say that a stolen SUV and attached U-Haul trailer were taken from outside an Albuquerque, NM hotel. The owner of the vehicle and his wife were in the midst of taking the body of her father from Oklahoma to bury him in New Mexico when the trailer containing the body was taken along with the vehicle. The still -occupied casket was later found in the vicinity.
(The don’t call them ‘U-Haul’ for nothin’!)
(Invasion of the body-snatchers?)
