BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ryan Reynolds will receive Bring Change to Mind’s (BC2M) Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter award at its 11th annual Revels & Revelations fundraiser, the organization has announced. The fundraiser will be held in New York on Oct. 9. Each year, the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter award is given out in honor of the late actor by his children, Zak, Zelda and Cody. Previous recipients include Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Stiller, the Smith family, Dan and Eugene Levy and Melissa McCarthy.

★ It could be that Russell Brand’s career has been canceled following bombshell sexual assault allegations made by 4 women. But the comedian has already amassed a fortune, despite once describing himself as “anti-capitalist.” The Mirror reports that the 48-year-old is worth $20million, citing data obtained by Celebrity Net Worth. He lives in a $4 million Oxfordshire cottage with his pregnant wife, Laura, and their 2 children. The nearly 4,00 square foot property, which overlooks the River Thames, boasts a pool and home theater, plus he’s the owner of a luxurious car collection, and a $2.2 million home in the Hollywood Hills.
-NYPost
★ Kim Kardashian and NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. have been spending some quality time together in recent weeks. PageSix reports that the “Kardashians” star, who is 42, and the 30-year-old Baltimore Ravens wide receiver “have been hanging out casually” following his split from girlfriend Lauren “Lolo” Wood. But sources close to both say the pair are friends and have been mostly hanging out in groups, as they share lots of mutual acquaintances. They say Kimmy K is not seriously dating anyone right now — but is open to finding love again if she meets the right person.
-PageSix
★ Vanna White has signed on for 2 more years as cohost of “Wheel of Fortune,” and she’ll take home a lot more cash this time around, but apparently things are far from settled. TMZ quotes sources as saying she received a “substantial pay increase” from the $3 million per year she was making for nearly 2 decades. She had not gotten a raise for 18 years. The sources say her lawyer is mulling over a possible gender discrimination lawsuit against Sony, based on her disparity in pay with Pat Sajak’s. Sajak, who recently announced his retirement, makes a reported $15million per season.
-TMZ
★ Hallmark has announced its 40-movie holiday-season schedule. 31 will air on Hallmark Channel‘s Countdown to Christmas and 9 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Miracles of Christmas. The annual TV movie event will begin on Oct. 20. Countdown to Christmas is leaning into their international movies this year — with films in Germany, Norway, Scotland and France. It has also teased a “yuletide Easter Egg hunt” this year, with surprise appearances, and nods to past Hallmark hits.

★ Prince William went for a jog in New York’s Central Park on Tuesday – and no one noticed. The heir to the British throne, who’s in the Big Apple for the Earthshot Summit — celebrating his climate competition the Earthshot Prize — said at that event: “I decided to join the hordes of New Yorkers during their morning routine … It was beautiful getting some fresh air this morning.” People reports the Prince set off around 7am local time.

SHOOTING THE BULL

GET LIT:
If you’ve ever thought: “Wouldn’t it be awesome if my houseplants glowed in the dark?”, well, your time has come! Idaho-based biotech company Light Bio has received permission from the US Department of Agriculture to start selling its sell its glowing petunias. The genetically engineered plants produce a neon green hue, thanks to the addition of DNA from a type of bioluminescent mushroom. Light Bio says that while some other companies have engineered plants that produce a modest glow, their research has resulted in plants that glow much more brightly. The petunias emit light throughout the plant’s entire life cycle, but the flowers are particularly luminous, letting “you see almost into the spiritual core of these plants”, according to co-founder Keith Wood. His partner, Karen Sarkisyan, envisions a future lush with bioluminescent plants, like in the movie “Avatar”. The company plans to start shipping the plants early next year.
(If they can do this with Christmas trees, I’ll be rendered obsolete!)
(And if you’ve NEVER thought It would be awesome if your houseplants glowed in the dark, what the heck’s wrong with you!?!?!?!)

DON’T ‘WEIGHT’ ALL DAY:
If you’re looking to lose weight, you’re best off to workout early in the morning, according to a new study. Researchers at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire found that moderate to vigorous exercise between 7-9am is best-suited to helping you lose weight. Their research found that those who did their exercising in the early hours, as opposed to working out around mid-day or in the evening, had a lower body mass index and waist circumference than the other groups — even though this group was the most sedentary of the 3.
(OK, so, starting tomorrow, I’m changing my workout time to early morning – at least until the next study comes along!)
(…and to all you early-birds who are able to drag yourself out of a nice warm bed and trundle off to the gym at 5am on a January morning, please know that I’ll be all cozy in my pajamas, under 4 layers of blankets, happily hugging my nice, toasty beer-belly!)

DEVICE-IVE ISSUES:
➢ Elon Musk has indicated that X, formerly known as Twitter, is considering charging all users for accessing the platform. Currently, Twitter only charges users for its subscription service X Premium, which offers perks such as a verified account checkmark, and costs US $11 a month. The X owner said erecting a paywall of “a few dollars or something” would ward off the bots, or automated accounts, that have become a problem for the company. Users were, of course, quick to respond, with one writing: “Love a ‘town square’ that you have to pay to access…”, and another: “Twitter can rot in its own filth just fine without me”. (But it’s OK as long as you don’t have to pay?)
➢ The music industry chart standard-bearer Billboard is now publishing a weekly music chart – of songs heard on TikTok. The TikTok Billboard Top 50, announced last Thursday, is a weekly ranking of the most popular songs on TikTok in the US, based on creations, video views and user engagement. Here is the top-5 on the inaugural TikTok Billboard Top 50…
1. ‘SkeeYee’ – Sexyy Red
2. ‘Paint the Town Red’ – Doja Cat
3. ‘August’ – Taylor Swift
4. ‘Go!’ – Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong & Hynden Walch
5. ‘I Remember Everything’ – Zach Bryan ft. Kacy Musgraves
(Hey! I’ve actually heard some of these!)

DID YOU KNOW?
An unusually well-preserved dinosaur skeleton, known as “Barry”, will go under the hammer next month. The remains of the Camptosaurus, which dates from the late Jurassic period 150 million years ago, was discovered in Wyoming in the 1990s. It was restored in 2000 by palaeontologist Barry James, from whom it got its name. Italian laboratory Zoic, which acquired Barry last year, has done further restoration work on the skeleton, which is 2.1 meters (6.9 feet) tall and 5 meters (16.4 feet) long. The skeleton is expected to fetch up to $1.3million when it goes on sale on October 20. (Funny – I have an Uncle Barry who is also very “well-preserved”. Pretty sure he’s not worth that kind of money, though!)

We rarely experience true silence, but that can help you get in touch with your emotions, provide you with a sense of calm, and leave you feeling rejuvenated (or just make you notice that ringing in your ears….)
